I have no idea, but as 1973GT was completed in July 1960, it might very well be 1961. Neither do I have any idea what happened to this car; never seen or heard anything of it ever since. Best wishes, Kare

I took these pictures with my handy Kodak Instamatic in August 1969 at the Buckeye Cup Can Am race.

I always wondered why there was no wing so I looked up the race report in Road & Track last night and it said the crew felt the wing was too flimsy and did not use it. The report also said the engine was replaced before the race and the car got faster as the race progressed with Chris Amon at the wheel. The 612P finished 3rd behind the two McLarens

Notice the elaborate tow rig, a Ford pick up truck with Nevada license plates and a simple trailer.

    Enjoy,

Way cool photos Gramps! If the tow vehicle was from Nevada does that mean Bill Harrah had something to do with the entry?

    Ciao, David

Great and evocative photos gary. I could'nt have been more than a few feet away from you when you took those pics at Mid-Ohio. I'll have to pull my old slides out and those from my father's vast archives and see what i have.

Amon qualified this Ferrari 10.1 seconds off the pole time set by Hulme's McLaren, but he ended up with the fastest lap in the race, only .5 seconds off the pole time!

    Hello Gary,
Great pics. You know I'm working on a 24th scale kit right now and those pics are very helpful, especially the rear view. I hope to have some of these cast by next year. The decals are very toublesome. All the orange and white number "16"s are different on each car for each race. They look similar, but none are exactly the same when you start studying them. They must have been hand painted for each race. Strange sponsors also. If you have any others please post them.

    Speak to you soon,

Something else that Model Factory Hiro missed is the white ACO sticker on the top left fender near the cowl. Many LM cars from that era had one or two somewhere on the car, but as far as I know the only ones who have ever included them on a 1/24th decal sheet are Profil24 in their Aston Martin Project 214 and me on my NART Corvette sheet.
A lot of people think that the MFH kits are the best ever, but they make mistakes as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing your model!
    Steve

I am glad you enjoyed the 612P photos from Mid Ohio, just wish I had more.

The 206S 008 photo was taken in August of 1966 at the United States Road Racing Championship race. It was entered by Schroeder Racing of Miami Florida and driven by Charlie Kolb. I have included the Buck Fulp driven Lola picture so you could see the transporter. I have always thought the color choice of milkshake chocolate was a bit unbecoming, but that is just my opinion.

They all can't be red! Great photos. This is exactly the type of thing I was hoping would happen with this thread.
