Selling off three of my P cars to fund my first Ferrari. I found a white 86 328 and wondered if its an acceptable color? Thanks in advance for any input.

You've got to live with it, not us.

If you like it, buy it.

Dude.. what's not acceptable? Personally, having been around these cars/clubs a long time, I get a little tired of seeing red (no-offense guys).

It's always nicew to see them in another or strange color. I had a red/creama Mondial cab, then a silver/blk Mondial Cab..to me the silver did a lot more for the lines of the car than the red/blk trim. Currently with grigio (grey metallic)/tan 308 QV.

White is very nice on these cars.. but then that's my opinion!

    Good luck!

White wouldnt be my first choice. Why are you looking at it ?

If its because You like it , then get it.
If its because its below market, then , look some more or save some more and get the color you want.

I personally like the white/red combo, its in the range of "market value", 30k service done with all records, has 35k on the clock. I have been a P guy for 25+ years and have been camping out on this site to try to educate myself.

Seriously, it's been 45 minutes already. Enough deliberating!

I'll add my vote to the "if you like it..." column. Just make sure you're buying it because white on red clicks for you and not because it's cheaper than red or black. When the time comes, it will sell for less than red or black one, and likely take a bit longer to sell. Also, keep in mind that a major service, and any repairs, on a white 328 cost exactly what they do on a red one.

(BTW, there's a white/grey 328 at Ferrari of Atlanta that has been there a while...)

See, doesn't the white one look better than the red one next to it? (Off to the left.) (Yeah, it's over there - on the left. See it?)

I always wanted a red with tan 308 growing up, then I came across a white 88.5 with tan interior and I just loved the look. I was hesitant at forst but now having owned it for a couple of years and taking it to may drives, it just stands out from the sea of red.

Some people want red because everyone else approves, but if you like it then buy the white one. You won't be disappointed.

Again this is my $.02 but I've lived the decision and wouldn't change it.

    1. If you are buying a car based on what others think...... move on and leave the F-community to deal with the current level of posers.
    2. Many ferrari's look better in "other' colors.... it shows the lines better.
    3. Buy what you like.
    4. I tried to find anything but Red, but in the $ range, location & at the time, it was the best choice.
    5. There is nothign wrong with white. I just got an Esprit in white and thought I was settling, but overall, the car looks great. Just like people, color of the exterior doens't really matter.

Go for it and get the white 328. I am finally pulling the trigger on a 86 White/Tan and picking it up around mid January. Can't wait for the drive home (even if it is only 15 minutes away - I have a feeling that drive might take a bit longer!!!!)

I've always liked white, with any car. Easy to clean, conspicuous, and hides imperfections better than any color. I also like "off-colored" cars and looked to purchase something other than red preferrably. If I were buying a "concourse" car, low mileage garage queen, I'd probably want red, maybe black, but a driven car, I wanted something different. I wasn't really thinking silver but I really like the silver/black combo I got. Buy what you want, my personal opinion is the mechanical/history are more important than the paint color. Good luck! There was a nice one in a previous thread that was white recently I think.

Aww geez. My question is why WOULDN'T you? I know a lot of people that own Ferraris, I'm the only one that owns a white one. I don't get any less enjoyment out of it because it isn't red, and it doesn't get any less attention.

Here is the deal, buy what you like. Drive what you like and just enjoy being in the club. Like other have said, white may take a little longer to sell but will it be any less fun than a red or black? Hell no! Hurry up and get in the club. Guaranteed you will have fun.

It really depends on why you're asking the question. If you really like white and are just asking to see what others think, then buy it and enjoy. But if you're asking because you have some doubt inside you about being happy with white, then wait because there are plenty of nice 328's to be found and there is no reason not to get the one you like. I prefer non-red Ferraris -- but it doesn't really matter what I think.
