I was just ogling this F1 interior (what a glorious color combination this car has) and noticed the E and L levers tucked away in the left hand door's sill. What do they do?

IIRC L opens the side luggage compartment, and although I'm not sure, I'd say it's pretty obvious that E is for Ejector Seat....

PS: I agree about the colour combo - stunning!

That is a great pic. How narrow is that drivers seat? Even the pax seats! Would never fit my fat ass in there! :D

I have the same predicament - and sadly I don't think that selling a kidney would even be profitable enough to purchase an F1...

The only one I currently know of for sale is here:
    http://autosalon-singen.de/Detailansicht.aspx?fahrzeugID=08980_9031_03_02&languageID=en

They're asking Euro 1,495,000 to save all of you the time/effort, that's
    US$ 1,957,921.07
    GB£ 1,002,210.85
    AUS$ 2,501,439.96

Simon, I don't know if you've seen it yet in the US, but there is an article in the latest issue of Evo comparing among others McLaren F1, F40, Zonda C12S, Veyron - it's a pretty good read. More info here: http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/204385/this_months_evo.html

And yes you would fit, I'm 6-1 and 210 and fit great in both the driver's and passenger seats.

Great! Thanks guys. I watched all the videos I could think of that showed the luggage compartments being opened but they never show the levers being pulled so I couldn't be sure.

I believe there is another F1 for sale in Japan with similiar colors, silver on black and red, but it has more red on the seats and I believe it has red carpeting.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Well you could always sell one kidney, one lung, part of your liver, one cornea (although you would probably loose some depth perception), blood and sperm. That oughta get the downstroke taken care of anyhow. :)

But there are two luggage compartments are there not?

One on the left and one on the right therefore why one switch?

Maybe these switches are on both sides?

Also, did McLaren not give or offer a McLaren golf set to the drivers upon purchase, this fitting within one of these compartments? Anyone got any pictures of this? Erik?

    There are indeed.

Give this man a gold star. :D

There was a golf bag included with the luggage set in the F1. It doesn't fit in the luggage lockers though - it is designed to slot into the right side passenger seat.

I'm sure i saw a picture or video a long time ago and yes i remember the golf set coming out of the right side of the car but i assumed it was the right panel behind the door. What do you mean it slots into the right side passenger seat, any pictures, i'm sure you must have?

I think you are thinking about the top gear episode where tiff drove the car around town. They showed the side panels with luggage in there and also tiff playing golf, but when he got into the car he put the back alongside of the seat. The vid is on youtube.

Sorry - don't have any images of how the golf bag fits into the seat, but in part 3 of this video you'll see Quentin Wilson remove it from the car:

    The Car's the Star - McLaren F1 - Part 1

    The Car's the Star - McLaren F1 - Part 2

    The Car's the Star - McLaren F1 - Part 3

    The Car's the Star - McLaren F1 - Part 4

It basically sits on the seat bottom, leaning back at an angle with the clubs towards the rear window. Then it is held in place by the seatbelt. It would make most sense to put it on the opposite seat from the one in this video though, since the driver has to get in and out from the left side of the car due to the placement of the gear lever on the right.

That is a real advantage to being my size. I had no trouble at all. And the seat snugged me in very well. My wife rode in the right passenger seat my young son rode in the left (Picture on my profile page)
