this is funny, im in the boat business , and ive seen million dollar boats up on blocks for years in yards . situations such as illness , death in the family, or other family situations, put "fun time" on the back burner, but they still pay the storage bill, so it just sits there until things get better...

Agreed, nothing too out of the ordinary.

I had a client years ago who purchased a then new 1991 Acura NSX. He went through cars like most people do meals out(typically 50-60 cars a year). He bought it on a whim when he was at his home in Arizona and parked it in his hanger and promptly forgot about it(less than 1000 miles on it). He didn't handle any of his own affairs so recurring tax and insurance bills went unnoticed to him...re-discovered it 6 or 7 years later when he was digging around in his hanger looking for something. LOL

Agree with Big-Tex. I doubt security would let this car leave the garage on a roll-top.

There is actually a legit reason for "If Stolen park in underground garage."

GPS trackers have a bIItch in concrete... LoJack works but only if the reciever car is within a couple of miles They would park in sub garage and wait for the instant hit on the police radio to cool or park there and disable the alarm system (that they can find) so they can transport later...

A bud of mine has been working AutoTheft for years in Toronto if they found one car in a lot like this as it "cools" they would usually find 10 others near by...

Odds are it is not missing but a call to local pooo poo would not hurt anyone... BUT heading down with a wrecker is a REALLY DUMB IDEA

I have seen so many Ferraris and other high end covered in dust in Parisian parkings.

I used to live in a building where 2 floors belonged to some saudi royalty and of course he had cars all over the parking . But they never moved. RR, White Countachs..with flat tires and dust.

Hell, even my own boss back when i was a student and before hiring me had his RR Silver Spur untouched for 8 months in the parking. That was a pain to tow away..

What a brilliant criminal mind you have!

    I did not know that.......

Most newbs behind the wheel of a 360 tend to damage them though, I still say "legit not stolen".....

I tend to think the "boat syndrome" or the "out of the country" situation would apply....is there a foul odor from the trunk area???

I'm here in Kansas City. Does anyone know what garage the car is located in
I may be able to track the garage down and make sure everything is o.k.

Study the pics carefully, see if you can match a logo or signage..

It has a Parking Pass, see if it'll enlarge......

"Hi, your dusty car was on the Internet as a possible theft target...I thought you'd like to know!"

Damn Bubba if you can fit a body in a 360 boot...

(for my friends in canada it could be a Volpe parking pass) *** High ranking Toronto Mobster goes missing, they found him in the trunk of his BMW at long term parking at the airport a month or so later... It wasn't good

Just from what I see looking at the pictures, it doesnt look like its been sitting for two years. Its dusty, but not "that" dusty, the tires look full, the rotors look clean. At any rate, If its a public garage and its been sitting any length of time you can be pretty sure the city has scoped it out.

And if its really in a city parking garage, anyone without authorisation from either the registered owner, or the city, caught removing that car to another location could be charged with attempted theft. If its really that interesting to know something about it, take the VIN as has been posted above, and run it through DMV. But just like I teach my young daughter when I slap her hands, if its not yours, KEEP YOUR FREAKING HANDS OFF IT! If I park something of mine somewhere, I expect people to leave it alone. I cant believe people on a Ferrari enthusiast website would even toy with the idea to steal a Ferrari. As rediculous as it seems that some 'tard would leave a car that valuable just sitting out in public, its still his car, or his families, and no body else's.

Of course he shouldn't touch it!

What I can't believe is that someone would be so stupid as to post on the internet that they were thinking of doing something like this!

Cars get left in parking garages all the time. Didn't anyone read about the Duesenburg Jay Leno found in a parking garage after 60+ years? The owner drove it around for a while, it broke, and he got fed up with it.

And please note that Jay didn't just back up a flatbed and take it. He tracked down the owner and bought it, THEN backed up the flatbed to it.

+1. you have such way w/ words...... :). also, dusty doesn't equate to the right of procuring its VIN number and check out personal ownership record (even though it still isn't right, i can overlook the temptation to write "WASH ME" on the winshield).

ps: this is in my city.....if i recall, one of the former KC Chiefs players at one time had a red 360. he got traded somewhere and just hasn't had a chance to pick it up.

That's the first thing I thought of (being in Boston, where there are many Middle Easterners), is that it probably belongs to a family or businessman who is out of the country a lot.

I can't believe someone would post that they are THINKING of stealing a car though!? How dumb can you be?

I have a feeling this car is STOLEN from another STATE and if this is the case then it might be harder to trace the owner. BUT, if someone can give me the VIN# then I can ask my friend who works at the DMV here in CA. to check out the car if it is/was register here then we might have a chance.

Well, it was from another forum, the OP just copied it here. Maybe in some 'small world' twist someone here actually recognizes the car and notifies the owner it's being scoped out for a theft.

FYI I don't believe it's a parking pass on the windshield. Looks a lot like a NC registration/emissions sticker to me. If so the car might have at least been purchased in NC (possible lead??).

Here are two possibilities, The owner (a rich owner) could reside in a different country and comes to the US every now and then and uses the car while he is here OR he could be in jail and sentence for who knows how long, but anyway it's just a thought.

What are you thinking??? Steal a car because it does not have plates and does not appear to have been used in the recent past???

Guys, there are other possiblities as well. I've left each of my cars for a period of over 2 years sitting in a garage with no plates collecting dust. And this case of a dusty, unmoved car with no plates does not mean the car has no owner, that it has no insurance or that the owner does not care or want the car.

Circumstances arise, and a toy car may fall by the wayside when we don't have the time, money or inclination to use them. How else do you think there are so many 20+ year old Ferraris with less than 5000 miles on them...
