Ha ha, a very rich owner? Is the theory that this very rich owner who can afford to own a 360 and not drive it just parks it in a public parking garage?? Highly doubtful.

Strange thing is, what took so long for it to be investigated? Intriguing story...I vote leave it in this forum, interest in this spans all regions.

Its similar in size, but the emblem in the center doesn't match up.

I know where a Countach sits outside of a shop for most of its life. I know where some Hendrick modified Vette's have sat outside a dealership for two years because no one will pay what they are asking. Here I thought I had to actually buy cool cars....

    (obvious sarcasm I hope)

I know of a Miura under a tree........

    *agreeing with sarcasm*

Maybe we should wait till they put F/S signs on it......

NOTE: This original thread 'starter' is not Fchatter but posted in some other forum about this car.....OP is a Fchatter attempting to shed light onto scheme.

I like how someone wrote "bad ass" in the dust on the rear glass - in the 3rd pic.

I have heard of 4 or so cases like or similar to this - the Jay Leno story being one. Actually in Jay's story and 2 others I have heard (3 out of 4) the person was able to buy the car from the owner. None were ferrari's but similar situations - car parked for long time (2 were in storage facilities) the other was Jay's in a garage.

If I were in the market for a 360 coupe - I might be tempted to get the vin/talk or with the garage owner and find out the story - in a non-obtrusive way as possible. You never know the situation of why it is there - and maybe the owner might sell it if they are not interested or unavailable to take care of the car.

Of course you might find - once you talk to the owner that he is with the mob - and says "watta ya looking at my car for" - 2 broken legs later - being curious is no longer one of your personality traits :)

How is the garage keeping tabs on this car without any plates on it? I know that most public garages do a daily or weekly check on their property to write down the tag # to verify how long it has been parked there.

I think I can safely say that there is NO garage that doesn't keep tabs on the high end cars in their garage, especially the high profile ones like a Ferrari.

It seems that all of the garage personnel know me by my car within days of my changing to a new garage.

Hard to believe this is happening in my area. I'm afraid I won’t believe it unless I see it. It just doesn’t look like that car has been sitting for two years.

Why not get the VIN and request who owns it? I t may be owned by someone that got the thing stolen and was not recovered. It may belong to some guy who bought it and wants to hid it from his wife while splitting up.

In any event, one should be able to find the owner or family and get it returned. Might be worth a reward.

Interesting story, never heard of anything like this! (till now)

Two years is a long time for rubber timing belts to be fixed in the position they would be sitting since it would shut off, not to mention oil and other fluids with milage on them.

  17. Am I the only one that noticed this....

A car that has been sitting (not moving, not anything) for two years would/should have flat tires. Or the tires should be pretty low. Typically a car tire will deflate at a rate of approx. a psi or two every month if I remember correctly. Those tires look very inflated for being stationary for a two year time period. Especially for going through various weather seasons where the rubber would expand and contract.

forget the specifics of this case, since we don't know them.

whatever the case is with the owner, there is a cost of storage at anyplace, whether this place is the place or not.

i suspect there is far more to the story than we know.

  21. Do a test. Let a car remain stationary for a considerable amount of time. See what happens. I happen to have had several cars that remained stationary for lengthy periods of time...each needed additional pressure. Furthermore, I had several sets of rims mounted with tires that weren't even on a car. Those were pressured prior to storage and they too needed air pressure before going on a car for operation. The paint is fairly glossy for TWO years of dust and grime also.

Something just doesn't add up here....

    curious first post.

The cars plates are removed probably because owner doesn't want to pay annual taxes. Tags are probably expired. New plates and tags are probably in owners possession and will be installed once reregistered and driven. Fact it is a Ferrari is only relative to the owners perspective. I don't see really what all the hub-bub is about.

Hi, names Brian. I saw this car saturday morning. Thought it looked out of place. Dust and no tags definetly makes you wonder the story behind it, however the car garage the car is located is in the basement of the most upscale area of Kansas City, which is probably why i didnt think twice about it...

    Is it still there?

And with the tire issue, I agree with NRG. I didn't drive my car for 3-4 weeks and had to put air in the tires again..
