Most so-called automotive journalists slag the Z06.

Tiff is one of 2 journalists on the planet who can actually drive. No surprise he favours the Z06. And pronounces it properly, too.

 

They always say that a ZO6 is still behind a Viper for anyone who can drive. Surprised it wasn't in the comparison since the ZO6 has always been cut down not only for performance, but interior quality as well. Viper would be my vote over the Vette any day, sounds better too with that V10.

i really like that z-06. it is the real deal!!!

 

I am proud as a brit to say we have the most superior motoring shows in the world, now back in the states I dont really understand why US motoring shows cant come up to TG and Fifth Gear Standards. The Z06 is a great car, but if it came down to it I would still buy the Viper.

 

Commercials. People watching TG/5G aren't likely to buy an intake vortex gimmick or might wonder just where on an F40 you'd use a leather cleaner.

The US has had a few intelligent programs. They die for lack of sponsors. It's not a conspiracy: the sponsors just notice that the ads aren't bringing in sales. So they go off to magazine ads or sponsoring some mindless drivel where the ads *do* work.

edit: You catch that part at the end about not being able to get a film crew into the States to give the award to GM? Maybe they should have come through Mexico.

tiff is still buggered over his day at fiorano...that day he just disses the 599, while the rest of world thinks otherwise... if it were the best fast car bang for the buck, sure, the Corvette wins hands down, but i don't think so...the year before, the M5 beat out the Zonda F for fast car of the year...M5 is a great car, but better than Zonda F? obviously there are criterias used that i don't think should matter in an 'ultimate' fast car award...but whatever, fifth gear is so so...

 

I am very surprised the 430 wasn't in that bunch. The 599 is a wonderful car, but not really a sports car.

 

I believe the F430 won last year.

Really ? Than how come every journalist that drove the 599 said it`s not a GT but a sports car ?

so true, but you gotta look at 5th gear from a different perspective, and most important from one that deosnt imply logic
