Finally got this installed in the new garage. This lift works very well, and I wanted to pass the info on if anyone else is interested. It raises very high, as you can see the room left over between my shop van which is about 5'10" tall. I can comfortably walk underneath it with it in it's highest position and I am about 6'1". The deck heighth is very low, the 355 drives on with no blocks, which is nice because there is no need for extended ramps for our low cars. It came with drip shields, and wheels so you can move it around. It's made by Direct Lift, an overseas company that I probably wouldn't use for the shops, but works great at home. With a 9000pnd capacity it is way overkill. For about $3500 shipped, and installed, I thought it was a pretty good deal. I can give you the guys number if anyone is interested. He works all over California and I believe Nevada.

The walls are ten feet, and I had them design it with scissor trusses specifically to clear a lift. It gives me about 13 feet at the peak.

Looks good, but any reason why you didn't move the lift up a bit so the car would sit in the middle of the lift?

The position of the car is not important like it is on a 2 post lift. The lift is not mounted and with the included casters it can be rolled anywhere in the garage. The reason I have it where it is is for more room in front of the lift. The garage is new, so I dont have the cabinets in yet, but I will and the more room the better between the front of the lift and the back wall of the garage.

IMHO, Casters + California earthquakes = may not be a good idea.

Those are nice. I think my dad would consider buying one of those in order to fit his FX45 inside the garage.

I just notice.. I like the LOTUS!

man why is it that everyone with a lift has the Ferrari/other exotic ON it? Put the van on the lift and drive the Ferrari!! It'd be better advertisement for your business, throw some tubi on it and floor it everywhere!

    Nice cars, great taste.

That rocks. We have the same exact lift on base. My S4 scrapes the rocker panels going up. Maybe it's a sign my car has been lowered too much if it scrapes where a Ferrari doesn't? ...Nah.

Looks like a Porsche 356. It is beautiful, from what I can see. All of those vehicles are.

Yes, that is a 57 Porsche 356 speedster. The reason the 355 is in the air and the van is underneath is the van is driven daily. Don't worry, the spider has gotten it's exercise, 39K on the clock.

Looks great. Am about to break bround on a new garage myself, 36"W x 27"D, also with 10" walls, also w/ preformed trusses, to save $. A couple of questions: What is max height at the apex of your ceiling? Did you consider roll-up doors to save the space that the sectioned/conventional doors occupy? Also, congrats on remembering to put an outlet in the ceiling to power the lift. ?220 or 120V?

Looks like a Speedster body/windscreen with an interior from a later car - Roadster seats and later door panels? Nice looking.

I have about 13ft total heighth at the apex. Roll up doors would not have matched the other garage attached to the house, and with the rails following the ceiling pitch I only lost about 6 inches.
Funny you mentioned the 220 plug in the ceiling, we had to add that afterwards, the lift motor worked better installed where it is. Originally it was going to be kitty corner from it's current location, so I had to climb in the crawl space and move it.
Well you caught it. Unfortunately the speedster is a replica, I had considered mentioning that with the first post, but I know how replicas generally are not favored here and to be honest I wanted to see if anyone picked up on it from the little that was pictured. I am usually not a replica fan myself, however the speedster mechanically is not that different from it's original, and I bought it right.
    Thank's everyone for the compliments.

Would it work for 2 F cars with an 8' garage?

It's probably mechanically better than the original, lol. I'm hoping for a real one in the next couple of years but they're beyond expensive now.

I think your problem would be clearing your door and opener. If the garage is deep enough, yes, it would probably work. F-cars are so low profile that you wouldn't need to raise it up much to clear the one underneath. If you are serious about it, I could put my 360 under the 355 and get you a measurement.
Definitley better than original. More power, lighter, and disc brakes. Still, you can't lose the poser stigma. At least there is no Fiero underneath.
