Hi, I'll be installing a new carbon center console this weekend on my 348. Has anyone done this before and do you have any tips or hints that I should be aware of? Thanks,
Oh man, I'm all over this thread. I too want to know about this. Hey while your at it, don't forget the speedo cluster!
I purchased them from John at MA Carbon. They took about 6 weeks to get the parts, but they look great in the box. I'll send progress pictures when I start it.
Hey Jeffrey, I did the conversion with MA Carbon parts too and it's really easy. No Doubt I think has a write-up on it but it's really a no-brainer. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice Joe. Did u do the speedo cluster? I like your pedals too. All u did is on my list. Hmm, pricy stuff, I see... About $2K to do the interior speedo, a/c console, ash tray and console and door sills. Hmm, guess I'll do performance parts first then see what's left int he budget.
Those carbon fiber pieces are high quality, and they look great! But...you can get a good look for almost no money. I paid about $8 for 4 carbon fiber panels on eBay and cut them into these (sorry for the poor camera phone pics): Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Hi, Well, I finally managed to get some time to install the console. While at it I also installed pedals and a Valentine 1 RD. Everything went in easily except I'm not sure what Ferrari was thinking when they put the fuse box behind a panel on the passenger side foot rest. Here are some before and after pics. I also added a new shift gate. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The console was very easy to do. I used the instructions from MA Carbon and the only adjustments I made were to some of the openings for the AC/Heat buttons. These were a bit tight. It took about 45 minutes to do the console. The Pedals also were pretty easy to do. I bought them from Ricambi and used their instruction sheet. They recommend using a block of wood to hold the pedal in place, but I didn't need to do that. I just held the pedal with my left hand and drilled with the right. I used new bits to do this and I think that made the job easier. I also tried using a portable drill but that didn't work too well so I switched to my regular one and that went through the pedals quickly. Peeling off the old rubber pedals was a bit harder than I expected it to be. I used pliers and had to work at them for about 5 minutes each. One problem I did run into was on the accel pedal. I drilled one of the holes near the bottom of the pedal and the supplied screw didn't make it all the way through the pedal. I re-drilled a hole up a bit further and that worked fine. The Valentine Radar Detector was the most difficult thing to install. I wanted it wired in directly so I had to get to the fuse panel under the passenger side's foot rest. That took a while to get apart. I then ran the wire from the RD up to the roof. I removed the visor from the passenger side and pulled down the piece that it is screwed into. It just popped off. I then ran the wire through that head piece and down the side passenger pillar. I removed the dash piece that is below the passenger vent. This allowed me to run the wires into the glove box. The Valentine then has a plug unit that I ran from the glove box down to the fuse panel and connected it there using a tab leftover from an old stereo hookup. The hardest part of this was getting the cover for the fuse panel back on and properly screwed in. Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of this part because I didn't think it was going to be as complicated as it turned out. I highly recommend both Ricambi and MA Carbon - their instructions were great and the products went in as described.
I was responding to No Doubt's pictures post. Obviously the material he put on the console and other parts is not actually carbon fiber sheets. It's a vinyl graphic sheet with a black and gray pattern, common on old Civics.
