i am not going to assume for jon, but i have bought two cars from sheehan. the simple answer is "how much is trhe hassle worth?" i know mike based on my purchases. if i was the "average buyer", i would annoy the sh*t out of the seller. i ask so many stupid questions, it is nuts. yes, i came to the table twice with money, as mike could attest to, but how many other people like me didn't? for the money mike makes, it is not worth the hassle for a real seller with better things to do. i don't know if that is the case here, but from my experiences as a buyer, i could see the attraction to pay someone to put up with the cr*p.
I don't think Dino's have appreciated much more than other classic marques. My Speedster, Etype, Vette and others are up by a similar percentage. The big winner has to be the 275GTBs. I passed on one for $185K a few years back. A similar car is $650-$700.
Now I just have to wait to see what Santa replaces it with. Sheehan sold it in one day and had the money wired in my account the next morning. Very smooth transaction and worth every penny he made on the deal. As for my experience he rates a "10+".
Excellent results! Sounds like Sheehan offered a very painless solution which is the recipe for success. Now you've got me very curious as to your next car entry (perhaps project). You have: - 360 CS </BIG envy> - 430 Spyder - Dino GTS under restoration - Miura My guess is that you are going with something Italian but older. You haven't ventured into the 1940's-1950's cars yet and I haven't seen any inclination that you are attracted to these, so that narrows it down to the 1960's cars. I'll wager you're more of a Ferrari 250/275 guy than a 330 and I see you do like open top cars. My guess is that you're picking up a PF cab ....how'd I do?
How about this. He already knows how to take a Dino apart and (hopefully) put it back together. Take those skills, buy a nice Fiat Dino 2.4 Spider and away you go. Or, buy a Daytona. DM
If i told you what I bought a Euro GTS for with a blown engine you would probably not believe me! Have a look at my blog posting the overhaul procedure on this car. www.rpmvt.com and click on the blog link.
