Just got back from my local Best Buy & they had a stack of PS3s about 6ft high with about a 12 foot square base. Admittedly the pile of Wiis was a bit smaller, but it sure didn't look like it would run out anytime soon. Call me a dork, but I was just shopping for an indoor TV antenna & a simple dvd player for someone who hasn't broken into the cable age yet.

Now that everyone's realized the PS3 sucks, no one wants one.

A LOT of places do have a lot of boxes stacked up...but as noted above, they are for display purposes only. Trust me, I was a sucker. went into a gamestop in manhattan that had 10 PS3 boxes on the window, only to be told that they had "none in the back, all those up front are empty boxes (i lifted them to make sure i wasnt being fooled, they were empty), and we dont know when we are getting the next shipment".

Fchat member Jimpo stated a couple of days ago that 100 PS3 20/60 Gig units were in stock at Fry's in Irving, TX. Sony did claim to ship more units to North America before the end of the new year.

Supposedly whats happening is that the PS3 is not going off as well as folks thought and the Wii is the comeback kid. But, Nintendo has not been able to keep up with shipments either. Since the PS3 was supposed to be so hard to find, everyone bought them and only now is supply coming back. As people realize the Wii rocks, they are harder and harder to find.

I searched every BB, CC, Target and Walmart in my area looking for extra remote controls for my Wii. I eventually got 3 of them on Craigs List. Its awesome - because we're having the whole family over today, about 20 people including probably 5 kids and 10 "kids at heart" and I just know the Wii is going to be the center of attention.

2 weeks ago A friend of mines wife happen to be at the right place at the right time when a new shipment came in and bought 2 PS3's. Said he would give 1 to his kids and sell the other on E-bay for 3K. I told him good luck that they may be on E-bay for 3k but that does not mean they are getting 3K. He said, Yeah it was on MSN or something that they were indeed getting 3K, I said "Whatever". A couple of days ago he offered the system to me for cost. I passed. Still looking for a Wii though!

Most people that bought PS3s bought them to resell and will loose money. Look at them all on Ebay....Even the people that were interested in getting one are holding off because of the problems w/ PS2 games and not a lot of PS3 games out yet.....

This was at the Best Buy on Army Trail in Bloomingdale - they definately weren't empty display boxes (I picked up a Wii just to read some of the specs & a few were taking PS3s to the register).

Actually, I'm pretty fond of my PS3. More games will come, like Gran Turismo and F1 Championship Edition, etc.

Best Buy in Watertown, NY (ie middle of nowhere) had a stack of them today... I couldn't believe it as I saw people just moseying around them, a few people here and there picking one up. That "tickle me elmo" phase didn't last long.

No Wii's anywhere up here in Vancouver - people still lining up overnight for chance of deliveries. they seem to be coming in 5-15 at a time per store once a week.

Dunno how many times my wife lined up pre-opening for a chance - and either be too late in the lineup or no deliveries.

The only time it would have been profitable to resell the PS3 on ebay would have been the day or two after the initial release. Now they're not going for much more than one or two hundred over cost. It's cool that Nintendo is doing so well tho, when I get some extra money I'm definitely buyig one.

only get one if you want it for "party" games like Wii Sports (which comes with it). the two single-player games i've bought for it (red steel/zelda) are both soooo boring, rather spend that money on good games for a playstation/xbox which are much better for "antisocial" video games.

Te Xbox 360 won this round of the console wars last year.

The PS3, while a technological gem is not the great leap forward it claimed to be or that the PS2 WAS.

The Wii will do well but I don't see the ps3 saving Sony and their silly Blueray disks.

I wouldn't count Sony out yet - clearly we're not seeing anywhere near the full potential of the Cell technology yet (same thing happened with the jump from PS1 to PS2 as well). With both Sony and MS playing a 10 year timeline for control of your living room TV it's a very interesting strategic battle. And don't count out Apple's iTV, or whatever, to bring iTunes into the video age.

Too early to tell yet if the PS3 is the next Beta or PS2.

The Wii's a brilliant short-term play by Nintendo that plays very well to their core audience - kids and casual gamers.

I'm hoping we can get dual-mode HD-DVD/BluRay readers in '07 or the HD market's screwed.

Sony will win the console war easy. I have no doubt in my mind.

Again, as I said before, this thing (PS3) was rushed out without sufficient numbers to generate demand and so-so games.

Sony is a screwed up company these days.

Last year when they pushed the release date back it was to raise anticipation for the console. Then they send only half of what they said they would send. The console "war" is just a game, no pun intended.
