    I have a small annoyance that happens occasionally. On my '77 512BB, when I turn the wheel to the right almost to the full lock position, the horn sounds off until I turn it back. Can anyone help with this minor problem. I tried screwing the prancing horse logo to the left on the wheel thinking that it may be a kink in the wiring and that helped somewhat. But it still does it occasionally. The dash was completely re-done by the previous owner as part of our deal. So, the wheel was probably removed and replaced in the process. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    just go through process of elimination, first take off the horn button and tape the wire plug and see if it does it, you'll find when the wire metal connector hits ground the horn will sound, this will eliminate the horn button, if it still does it check the horns in the front end for loose wiring or wiggle them to see if it goes off again, if its not either you have a wiring short somewhere and start tracking the wiring from the horns back to the fusebox and steering wheel

    Good day Jesse,

    I had a very similar problem this Summer. In my case the horn button wire was touching the steering wheel hub (where the wire is riveted to the signal light canceling assembly/plate). The horn button wire is terminated with a solder lug and at some point the solder lug became bent and was able to contact the actual metal hub. To fix this I had to remove the steering wheel and hub (kind of a pain and you need a special socket to remove the hub securing nut) and simply press the solder lug down. Just to ensure that this does not happen again, I ended up insulating the lug with heat shrink tubing. However, one could simply use electrical tape as well.

    Thanks alot guys. I'll try that. Just have a couple further questions. In order to remove the horn button, do I need to remove the entire steering wheel? Also, is the special socket to remove the hub something I can buy at any place where good tools are sold or is it a special product only available from Ferrari? Thanks again.     Good day Jesse,

    Sarti answered your first question, and as for the 2nd one... You can purchase one of these tools I believe from Daniel @ Ricambi, or you can make one yourself. In my case, I took an old hardened socket and cut away the edges with an cut-off tool (do a search and I think I saw a thread about someone making their own socket(. I would have purchased a special tool, but it was the weekend and I was anxious to get it fixed so I could drive the car :). Be advised that the nut on the hub (I believe this type of nut is called a ring nut) can be very tight and one may need to use of an impact gun to remove it... As such, a home made socket like the one I made can be dangerous when used with an impact gun, so be careful. At any rate, I had to use an impact on mine to loosen it.

    Thanks guys. I pulled the horn button off and the cause was that the green wire that is soldered to the horn button contacts the big circular metal plate when it gets stretched across during right hand turns. I have to buy some eletrician's tape to try to prevent this but it is the holiday and I do want to drive the car. For the quick fix, I just pulled out the entire horn button enough so that it doesn't contact anything. I'll let you know how it works when I finally fix it. Thanks again.
