I run Outlook 2003 on my computer to check my email from home. Something went kaflewy with my laptop yesterday. I was dropping my IP from my (I was using Explorer 6.0) wireless router when the laptop went into hibernation and I was getting strange unknown error messages when I tried to send receive my email (error code was 0X8007007E). I rebooted the computer and this seemed to fix the IP problem with explorer until the computer went to hibernate again. I changed browsers to IE 7.0 (which I really like btw) and this has fixed the IP drop/hibernation problems however I am now getting a new unknown error in outlook. The new error code is 0X80040154.

Any ideas on how to fix this error? I would not be opposed to changing email programs, provided that there is something that I can download at low/no cost and that is easy to use. Any help would be appreciated.

    Run a system restore.

Restore to the last day when you didn't have the problem, see if that fixes it.

If you've never used it before, read this first.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx

or search help on your computer for "system restore" It'll walk you through it.

If that doesn't fix it, maybe a re-install of outlook, along with an upgrade to IE7 is in order.

Good luck with this, nothing like a microsoft gremlin for Christmas.

tried system restore last night. Computer told me that it was unable to restore the system. I thought that that was a little odd. Looks like I will have to reinstall outlook, unless there are any other suggestions.

Re-install Outlook first. That has a pretty good chance of fixing it.
