    I have....

In fact I tend to do it more than I like to admit....

So today I am putting stuff in order in that house that I am at and find secound copies of T2, Spiderman 2, and Scary Movie 2. (Must have been my day for sequels.......)

The problem is that I love movies and have a ton of them. I tend to get confused if I have bought one or not at times and seem to get them again.

    (sigh)

    Anyone else do this?!!

After doing this a couple of times, I finally made an excel spreadsheet. It's in alphabetical order so that I can reference the list quickly.

I do it all the time. I can't bring myself to get rid of my VHS tapes, but that doesn't stop me from repurchasing them on DVD.

I have over 400. It's a sickness. Don't know really how many are duplicated, since there are all over the place. I know I've done at least 5. Keep telling myself to organize.

A friend told me about readerware.com, I've been thinking about it, especially since I already have a barcode scanner. But I'm a procrastinator........ :(

I only have about 250 DVD's, so once it was done it's easy to keep adding to. :)

I haven't actually bought two of the same DVD's. Its probably cause they're all organized in our theatre room and I'm good at remembering stuff that I bought previously. However, on Christmas of '03/'04, I have recieved two Lord of the Rings movie. As far as I can remember, those are the only ones that I have that are the same.

Ah yes. The let them buy the standard edition, then a few months later release the extended edition to suckers (eh, I mean die-hard fans) so they have to buy them too.

Phew! Nice to know I'm in good company. The plus side is, they make convenient gifts to have laying around.

And yeah, I've bought extended-edition "director's cuts" a few times.

We have our DVD's on a storage unit sorted by type of movie. We also put some return address labels on them so when we lend them out, people eventually notice that they need to return them. My kids also have a check out sheet taped to the door of the video storage closet so they can track who borrowed what. No doubles for us....yet!

My trick was to ditch the cases (what the heck do you need those for, ayway!?!?). We just throw them away and put all the movies in a massive Case Logic (200 slot) book. The first couple of pages in the binder is the excel spreadsheet in alpha order. It takes up about the same space as one component on the gear rack.
