Iv'e read the tread and most of the Lambo rep guys have also looked at this tread and thought it was childish. Personally I think its qutie pointless to bash replica's in genral because its like that bully in highschool who picked on everybody because they didn't have a pair of Jordan Shoes. I haven't met anybad replicar or orginal owner, most orginal owners are genrally nice and you can tell that they are wealthy, I hang around people who are rich and wealthy and theres just something about them thats says they aren't avarage. Replicar owners are just regular people who you see everyday, iam sure they fell afended once someone says one thing bad about there car. But thats everybody even the Importguys.

I can't agree more with some of the replicas though, i mean some of them make my eyes hurt while others I can't help but admire there craftsmanship.

Pantera i think you can probably stop trying to get us to understand your POV about kitcars and crap, you're not going to convince us that they are nothing more than polishing a turd. well done on having the persistence of a jehovahs witness.

    Speak for yourself.

I'm with Pantera on most of his arguments. If you call replicars a turd, I hope you realize that you also offend owners of real Ferraris, who have replicars alongside their original cars. Some of them are very wealthy. I hope you also realize that several replicas officially race in historic events.

Pantera: Since there is no replica section on FChat, this thread is as good as it gets. I know the title is biased, but it's all we got and quite frankly a lot of replicas sadly are just crap. I wasn't kidding when I said, that 99% of replicas give the other 1% a bad name (maybe the % numbers are a bit off, but you get my point). So yes, we love to bash bad replicas on here, but this thread is also the place where the good ones can shine. Unless of course they're so good, that you manage to sneak them into the official FChat threads. You wouldn't be the first...:)

Its not that but your ignorance about them. All this bashing for what? just because you own an orginal and you see a replica of the same car does that give you the right to bash a replicar?

Like I said before bashing kitcars is about as stupid and childish as the highschool bully that picked on everyone just because they got their shoes at payless while he's wearing Jordans.

How many kitcars have you worked on or drivin in your life time?. Iv'e worked on a couple of them and they in my opinion have much more to offer than anything else on the road besides an orginal Supercar itself.

But no you choose the negitive side of the kitcar seen, just because you saw one replicar that is indeed ugly you think all them are complete turds. I can find as many turds as i can find works of art. Just because you saw one thats ugly doesn't mean they are all ugly, exsample the ricer seen, ive seen soooo many ugly imports that are ugly and sadly have bashed a couple of them but you know what I changed my opinion about the import seen when I saw the TRD Supra in white, since then Iv'e learned to look twice before labling it as a ricer.

But just bashing all out just because its a kitcar is just stupid, look at the H2 hummer, that should be concidered a replica because its based on a Tahoe chassis but you know what most people drive it because its cool.

The funny thing is that a lot of the folks who hate replicars with a vengeance don't even own the real thing. And likewise some people who own the real thing don't have that much of a negative reaction to replicas. Why? Because they realize that a replica guy/gal often is a true fan. There are posers too, no question, but a lot of the replica owners have them for different reasons.

I have to agree. The Fiero is simply the wrong base for a F40 replica.

How about F40 panels for a 308? And then put a turbo on the QV and you're halfway there. That would actually make sense, even financially.

The only replica I have seen that really turns me on is the 250 GTO. I have seen several and if I really wanted a replica, that would be the only one.

All others need to be the real thing.

Why is it that on almost all of the Ferrari replicars that the Ferrari Prancing horse is almost never facing the right way? Especially in the steering wheel and rear grille.

    point some out.

unless you were deliberately doing that (hey, why bother getting that right if the rest of the car is wrong) and somehow found someone that produced inverted dancing donkeys i don't see how you could get it wrong without it being downside-up.

Did you ever see Chelle and Haley's 250 GTO? If not, you'll get a chance this summer. It will blow you away, not just by looks but quite literally by performance as well.

I disagree with "all others need to be the real thing". There are several older race cars where it would be blasphemy to drive/race them or simply out of this world expensive. There is a great place near Detroit where a guy builds rock solid race cars with customized bodies like P4 or Porsche Kurzheck. Throw in a 348 engine and you got yourself a really cool deal, that even handles the part.

There are other great replica manufacturers: Noble in the UK makes good P4s and even better Lancia Stratos.

Ok, maybe I spoke too soon. Maybe it is not Noble, but another guy from the UK. I don't have my list of URLs with me, so I can't pull it up. At any rate it is a very close to the real thing car and you can power it with a 308 QV engine.

I always wondered why noone ever built a replica using an early model ferrari. There was a guy (back in my NSX days) who built an f40-50 can't remember on an nsx platform, was actual a cool looking car that had some performance. I will try and dig up the link

The F50 on NSX basis from China (?) has been posted here quite a bit and I agree that was a basis that made sense and the outcome is fabulous.

What I would love to see done by a replica builder, who is in it as a hobby are however not the 100th clone of a F40, but rather of a Ferrari, that hasn't really been out there like one of the Pininfarina prototypes: Modulo, Mythos and Rosso would make some great challenges for a replica builder, look outrageously awesome and be unique.

much better idea, at least the mangled kitcars that come out and end up on ebay will have a reason for looking not quite right, rather than the down-syndrome ferraris that usually end up out there.
