In an interview in Italy's Gazzetta della Sport, di Montezemelo stated that Schumacher will have his own office at Ferrari.

"Michael will be a consultant for Ferrari. He will have his own office, he'll come over whenever he wants to, and he will attend some GP's."

Additionally, Ferrari's techincal director Mario Almando revealed, "Schumacher will be part of the group. We will take advantage of his experience to develop the F1 car and the road cars. We'll have a remote connection when he won't be at the GP's: he makes a difference even from home."

In addition one of MS' roles will be as a talent scout in lower classes such as kart.

I think Ferrari is doing exactly the right thing here. Using MS and his experience for everything outside the cockpit and away from the pitwall.

What's most interesting to me in that statement is what they didn't say. Yeah, obviously there's a logic to retaining the winningest driver of all time to your factory. But they're yet to clarify what it is he'll do exactly. And the fact that Michael will "...come over whenever he wants to..." tells me they're going to use him more as a figurehead than anything else.

This will establish the base for cute metal dash plaques stating something like "Tested/Engineered by Michael Schumacher".

Not too pessimistic, guys! Ferrari needs to win 2007WC, if they don't, everyone 's gonna think we're off for another 10 Sabbathical years, like we used to have in the past! Be sure they pay Schumi for it, maybe also for using his name, but in the 1st place to be sure to bring the title home!

That is a realistic possibility. Things may not work out as planned.

Michael may have to come out of retirement to save the SCUDERIA! We will know in a few years.

    Merry Christmas to ALL! Paolo.

Good point! It also buffers him nicely from any potential negative fallout.
