Looks like the first and second thread also got zapped by the databsase outage, so here goes to all. The guy who did it has a little kiosk at The Grove on 3rd Street in Los Angeles, its called Ralphs Keys, his name is Avi, he is Isralei and is a funny guy, you need t have a sense of humour with him in order for him to tackle it. But he will do a good job. Phone # is 323-938-1277, he is next door to the Cost Plus Store near the Farmers Market side of the mall. I just called he is in Las Vegas for the New Year and wont be back until Tuesday. He charged me about $10, but I tipped him another $15, was worth it to me, he tried and succeeded, no other locksmith I went to wanted to even try. I will again post the photos, but at this time the system is not accepting any attachments.

Can you buy a enzo key off of ebay and take it to a locksmith and have him mod the key? what all needs to be done?

Albert's post just proved it can be done, but MOST locksmiths won't try it. Good luck finding an Enzo key - they are priced at around $1000 right now. I am considering getting a 360 key from Daniel and calling Albert's guy to see if I can send it out to him..or you can get that Carbon Fiber looking key from Xavior's guy in Japan. That key looks great also and is $220..

Kudos to you. I love seeing guys who understand why, when, and how much to tip. That tells me that they "get it" in life. Makes the world go around much smoother. Life's too short to hang onto every penny.

    348 Brothers rule!

Oh, MDShore348 will also hand make a $2 Ilco blank key into an Enzo look-a-like key for $100. PM him and support a fellow Brother.

SGMDCFD no I never got your PM, but with the system acting up the way it has, am not suprised, try again, maybe it will get through this time. And 285ferrari :), yeah I know, I cleaned up my center consol early this summer, took it apart and cleaned it, then painted it, looks good, I have to find the time to do the plastic steering column area! Time, never enough to do everything you want :(

Hi all, I picked a blank enzo key from ebay for £100 pounds and it cost me £10 to have it cut for my 360. There was also a Ferrari merchandise website selling blanks for approx 150 euro's and will post anywhere in the world. I can't remember the name of the website but if I find I'll post a link.

Update on the Enzo key fitting your 348/355.This morning I called Ralph's Key Shop located in "The Grove/Farmers Market" in L.A. I spoke to Roy which is Avi's son and told him that his father had helped a fellow F-Chat member (Albert) make his Enzo key fit the 348/355. He said bring the car with me and he will give it a shot...........I did, he did, and TADAAAA!!!!!! it works!!!!! It took awhile as the weekends are very busy there with other customers. My advice would be to call and get there early or spend a few hours shopping or see a flick while they work on your key. It's really important to have your car parked close by as they must make adjustments as they go for the proper fit. Roy is only there on weekends and his dad only evenings so call ahead to make sure one of them is available. They have another guy who works for them during the week in the day but I'm not sure he could do the job.
The channels on each side of the key must be deepened for the key even to fit in the door or the ignition. This is a tedious process as it is done by hand , plus the factory key is of a very hard steel and tough to file.
If you were lucky enough to get an original Enzo blank and you live in the Los Angeles area this is the place.
Roy is a great guy as I hear his dad is as well. Here's the info:
Ralph's Keys, 6333 W. 3rd st. Los Angeles, ca. 90036 (323) 931-4868 or (323) 938-1277. FYI they are also a AAA supplier and can replace your lost keys or help you with a lock out. Definitely a phone # to keep handy.
    Thanks again Albert.
No need to post new pics as Alberts pics say it all.

I bought a silver Enzo Key on Ebay for my 355. So as it turns out most key places will not cut the key because it is all steel and it burns up cutting wheels. So I took it to FOA and the guys popped off the front and back plastic parts from the key and they told me to take it to ACE Hardware. He also confirmed it was real. Mine came with the hologram box and sterling silver key tag. My local ACE hardware guy cut the key and charged me all of $1.69. I told him after he cut it, how much it cost. He thought that was really funny. Key works perfect though.

I'll also mention my 10 cent upgrade for these keys if you do buy one. These keys are lighter than you would think from the way they look because they are hollow inside. So before I put mine back together after they cut it, I wrapped two nickels taped together in some paper and put those inside the key. 10 cents later the key feels like the perfect weight.
Sometimes you have to be creative to get to where you want to be.

Regards bushwacker, im glad that key worked out for you. It was a busy day indeed. I did not see your key tag anywhere. I searched all around.

The [double sided] key that most of you ferari owners need is referenced as Ilco : x152 Silca : ft46
That Enzo blank off ebay is a bit too shallow going through the middle. It's actually a completely different blank. Hand Filing it down is never recommended. But if it's pulled off it works just right.

I found aftermarket Ferrari look-alike keys for the X152 guys and placed a few on order. They are red like the one pictured above and are made of the same quality plastic however they do not carry the ferrari logo.
The original Ferrari Enzo keys listed on ebay are indeed made of high quality steel which makes very difficult to mill. Using any standard end or ball mill on a "laser" machine would destroy the cutter ($130 to $350 ).
Dealerships use special carbon steel cutters that are barely ever replaced and computer calibrated. Of course these machines cost upward of $15,000 and would be overkill for any standard locksmith.
Hardware stores barely ever get their keys right anyways, at least ruin their cutters. We wont cut them here.

My first post guys, the ferrarichat.com now has a locksmith on-board :)

I don't have an F dealer close to me. Would say a BMW or other dealer cut these keys? Ace hardware or other place sounds like a gamble

Thanks for the expert contribution! I may be interested in one of your red plastic keys; sure the logo would be nice, but I think I'll remember which car it goes to :)

Your best bet towards making a modification to this key would be a machine shop. A good machinist at a machine shop can throw it on a lathe and have the center milled in seconds. Otherwise hand filing is the only way, It's tedious, messy and scratcy. I'll try and stick around the forums, throw your "key" questions at me? Now all i need is one of these purdy candy colored cars.

The replacement key I purchased is an Ilco X152 FT46. It is stamped "For Fiat".

Amazingly, it looks identical to my Dino key from 30 years ago!

    It was only $3.80 duplicated!

I am cutting that to put into the bogus key that came from the Ferrari store!
