Just picked up a new H3 (actually got the H2 first but it took up too much space in the garage....). So far....so good. Not anything to write home about....It rides a bit rough as one would expect (actually, my fiance said it felt like sitting on an old moving washing machine :D). Obviously, it's a bit late to seek advice :) but is there anything I should be aware of w/ these things?

Tom, I think you'll find the community over at www.elcova.com to be a wealth of information on the H3.

Oh, and congrats on the little hummer. It's a nice truck.

Posted a reply the other day, but with all the F-Chat server problems it must of went to cyberspace...

I bought one new around the summer of 2005 when they first came out -- yellow with chrome package and fully loaded. It was a great SUV for its size / class with adequate power both on and off road, enough room for our family of four and an occasional friend, and plenty of storage in the rear. My wife especially enjoyed driving the H3 for around-town errands. Even thought the "cloink" sound of the turn signal was sort of cool.

As it was my daily driver, I soon found a few awkward items that stood out: 1) The placement of the power controls on the door armrest were too far back for my liking. 2) The space between the door and seat was very minimal, and made reaching the seat controls sort of difficult (unless the door was open). 3) The windows were rather narrow (vertically), and made reaching out to use the ATM machine, etc. somewhat of a challenge. Even retrieving the fast-food bags through the window was a trick unless you turned the bags nearly sideways. Other than that, I had no other complaints really.

Drove it for about 5 or 6 months (and 3500 miles) before deciding that it was just a tad small for my needs. So, I did the opposite as you and traded the H3 in for the H2. Now, (as you put it) instead of feeling like I'm sitting on an old moving washing machine, I feel like I'm cruising down the road in my living room, LOL! :D

Let me know if you have any specific questions or concerns regarding the H3, as I'd be glad to try and help. It was a great vehicle to own, and I still like them a great deal. Hindsight 20/20, I should have kept it for my wife's use, and eventually let my son have it when he was old enough to drive.

    Congrats on the H3!

    thank you, eric

funny you mentioned ATM.....yest, i did have to roll the driver window down all the way and actually leaned half of my body out in order to reach down at the keyboard......MPG was unexpectedly inefficient for a 5 cynlinder car

Ps: Pap, we have had bad weathe over the last few days.....will take some pics and post soon.

Glad to help. Yes, you're right about the fuel economy (forgot about that one)...found that surprising as well. Of course, I went from bad to worse with the H2 :) Then again, all my past F-cars didn't fare so well at the pump either, especially the Testarossa. Didn't deter me from driving and enjoying them though.
