As you guys know, I tend to switch cars on a regular basis.... While I wait for my F430, I am considering picking up one of the following: 2003 Porsche 996TT X50 2006 Porsche Carrera S 2006 Maserati Gransport 2006 Dodge Viper 2007 Corvette Z06 I know they vary in terms of speed and handling.... Just looking for some opinions as well as other cars in the same price range that I could add to the list.
I cannot recommend which one to get but I can definitly tell you which one to stay away from.... The gransport.
Z06, handsdown. Of course, I am biased I considered a Gen IV Viper before settling on the Corvette, and I can tell you the Corvette is farfarfar ahead in terms of comfort, drivability, usability, and just an all-around better car for street driving. Compared to the other cars it is faster, out-brakes them, and (with perhaps the exception of the 996) has better creature comforts (Navigation, Heated Seats, Voice Commands, Heads-up Display). All-in-all it is simply an amazing car that just does not disapoint. Furthermore, you can buy one brand new for what you would buy a 996 and there were no 07 Vipers so you'd have to find a used one. Personally, to me it seems like a no-brainer. If you're in the NY-area and can't find a Z to drive, weather permitting, I would be happy to let you take mine for a spin and answer any questions you might have (I just made a similar decision). Best of luck, Naveed
Why do you say that? I have had 2 Maserati's (a 2003 and 2005) and did not have one problem or warranty issue.
my pick 03 Porsche TT X50 you got lots of power handling reliability comfort and its a Porsche What else do you want. Unless you want some elegance go for a 97 or 98 Ferrari 355 Spider. Ferrarijoe
I'll be the odd man out and say go for the 997. In my opinion, as a whip, no other sports car car be beat.
Scott - Before you do anything; go drive the Z06. You'll be sold The ASMV8 is a gorgeous car, and definately has the sex appeal that most of the others lack (and definately the uniqueness and exclusivity).
You must of been the only one and from what I have heard as far as the resale value you take a pretty hard hit when buying one new.
Agreed, that would be my choice. Used they are a great value and fun track car if you like that sort of proper driving experience As for the Maserati... run away. Those things plummet down (in price) faster than any other car i know of. And as for price to get them fixed when they break... think Ferrari (!).
I was going to say actually a Maserati Gransport in my opinion. It's fits 2 in the back very well. When you buy a car you shouldn't worry and worry about depreciation values. All the cars he listed above depreciate and the Maserati may just be a little more then others but it's an amazing car, and also gives you exclusivity, good looks, great handling and very reliable. Everyone has a porsche. That's just my opinion and you can pick up a 06 Gransport at a good price and would ensure whoever drove it for a few weeks straight would love it. You can most likely get this car for under $100,000 http://maserati.millermotorcars.com/new/index.cfm?sFuse=ALT&iVehID=698&CFID=1021994&CFTOKEN=71293430
hey nabbsee it's just a chevy in the end of the day. now watch me piss off all you Z06 guys. HAAAHAAAAAAAA Ferrarijoe
No one pays sticker for a Maserati. I have been offered several 2006 Gransports that list for around $115,000 for between $75 and $78K. Also comes with a 4 year warranty. The guys on this board that know me can vouch for the fact that I won't keep any car more than a year or so.... I have also owned two Ferrari's without expense except for oil changes....
Have you driven one? I have not but plan to this week. Also allows me to fit my kids in the backseat from time to time although that is not a requirement.
Another vote for Maserati here. If you look a purchase price vs resale, they are comperable to Porsche and other similar cars.
Just remember Joe: the cop yesterday stopped you, let me go, and then stopped Seth, so having a bellybutton pos chevy does help sometimes Scott: Comparing coupes, sedans, and 2+2s together is going to make for a difficult comparision imho. If a backseat and/or having a peoplehauler is important to you that opens a whole other set of requirements. On the other hand, if you're looking for a fun/track car that can double as a nice semi-daily driver: then you're looking at a totally different list of cars.
that's because we left all your guys back way back haa haaa so the cop saw the Ferrari and the lambo. Nabbsee I am just bored messing with you I know the Z06 is a quick beast. later Ferrarijoe
a friend of mine bought a new 2005 cambiocorsa spider in '05. he paid just under $100k. He then tried to sell it in 2006 with 7k miles on it, and he could only get $43,000 for the car even though it was in mint condition. That's significantly worse depreciation than i could expect from any of the other cars on the list. I say X50 Porsche, mainly because it's a phenomenal all-around car that you can sell in a few months when the 430 comes in and not really take a financial hit at all.
Get a Nissan Skyline R33 or R34, I have more coming in a mounth or so. No one has one, i can tell you that, and there fun, fast, rare, and amazing to drive. if your going looks, hands down everyone has seen a ferrari or lambo, but they love to see the skyline when i bring it out instead of the some of my other exotics. ohh and there cheaper.
