The potential is amazing which is one of the main purchase reasons. - 5 speed - RWD - Very well maintained leather interior - Sleek and MINT body - Plenty of engine's available - FUN TO DRIVE
I heard they do some Japanese Drift style racing up at Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, on the paved oval track only.

I believe this is what you're looking for: http://www.superformance.com/coupe.aspx there were strong rumours that Ford was replacing the GT40/Ford GT line with this body style next - but haven't heard much the last few years. I believe Zahir at ZR was a SuperPerformance agent a few years back (he had a few GT40 recreations on his website anyways). A real one will cost more than Vancouver Waterfront I think.
That would be a Replica Shelby Daytona Coupe. There are only 5 Daytona Coupes in the world. Each car being worth well over 1 Million. That replica is build by SuperPerformance, You can check them out here: http://www.superformance.com/ EDIT: I was to slow.
Try well over 4 million USD for the real deal Scott, there is a company here in Canada that sells them I do believe. If you get a chance to go to the Auto show I am sure there will be one there as usual.... (oh don't mind the chicks in the pics...I really was trying my best to get the car) V.. Superformance cars are shoddy. I wouldn't touch one with the proverbial three-metre pole. Ask me how I almost died in one. Learn how Peter Brock did die in one, doing 40 mph at impact, I might add.
I have friend that had a red one. Cars looks and sounds great. Of course, it looks like a total deathtrap.
i do want a coupe but have always wondered if the build quality is poor, or is it what should be expected from a kit car with little R/D....any first hand experiences? It doesn't really matter anyway cause I'll still get one given the chance, but good to know. Sad about Brock....the coincidence of him passing in a car that was designed by a guy with the same name is creepy.
SuperPerformance had one coupe and it was sold to a customer here in Toronto, they are located in Concord and I think they are no longer selling and building any cars because of some problems with Transport Canada.
Okay, How did you almost die in one? I know someone who has a Superformance Cobra, I can't imagine anyone surviving an accident in a replica or in a real car, nothing to them. They are so small any impact would crush you.
Let's just say a key component of the car manufactured by Superformance failed. But, hey, they sell these cars as "track ready", right? Happy to tell you the full story at Karting Part Cinq.
Hmmm.... Key components fail in alot of cars... just ask any racer! I'm not sticking up for Superformance, but, suggesting you were almost killed, but only tell all to a friend or two at a karting event, suggests a story that may not carry alot of weight. Speak up, tell us the details, rather than create a rumour. with respect, Sandy
Here's Phil Specter's old Daytona. Now owned by a Philadelphia collector, Dr. Fred Simeone. Saw it last spring, unrestored, no plans to restore it. He has an unbelievable collection of race cars. Thanks for your input, Sandy. As I told carbon_00, I've been playing with racing cars too long to be driving those that are going to kill me. More importantly, carbon_00 has an understanding of what happened with that particular car. You can do whatever you want with this information--I couldn't care less about starting "rumours". Do a little research, Sandy, and you'll uncover lots of information about Superformance. There is more badness out there than just my experience with their crapwagons. Google is your friend.
My brother you are right. That "barn find" Daytona is spectacular and has a spectacular story to go along with it. As we know there is like 5 REAL Daytonas only and they are worth a billion dollars each. QUOTE: "This Coupe (CSX2287) was the prototype car and the only Coupe constructed in the USA. The other 5 Coupes were shipped to Italy where the bodies were built by hand and installed on modified 289 roadster chassis. CSX2287 was raced many times in Europe as a Shelby team car during the 1964 and 1965 seasons." You must know the name Brian. This was the long lost one that was owned by Phil Spector. The ultra Rich producer for many top bands. Those who REALLY know music (especially rock) should know this guy. Not sure if he took care of the recent murder charge yet though lol. He actually forgot he owned the car nor did he care until he realized it's worth. Anyways, to make a long story short it finally made it's way to a serious collector as Dave mentioned in the previous post. http://www.nvsaac.com/gallery/missing_daytona_coupe.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
