err, yeah... you missed a bit of action.. needless to say.. that didn't quite make sense, and I got bashed for it already... I "meant" that a UK spec 328 with sports exhaust can embarrass a Boxer, but only up to around 100mph where a BB gearing becomes more suitable... and until you've experienced a UK328 compared to a Aussie or US one... you won't appreciate how good a UK one is, and how much a sports exhaust REALLY opens up a UK spec QV/328.... anyway... fancy a drive..?. Maserati club Phillip island track day this Friday... Give this friday a miss, your welcome if you want to borrow my Goodrich shod wheels. Winton on the Saturday would be ok in the Jag.How do I enter.
so what you're saying Rob is that you wasted your money buying that Dinosaur because you will never see 170+ here in Aus ??? And on top of it you're doing heaps of fuel into the bargain (not that that matters) Shame to see those figures as I have always loved the BB for what it represented to me at the time it came out, an out and out supercar, but if it "just" shades the 328 to 200kph and is only 20kph faster top end then who cares
Hi J.M might go to the S.Aust salt flats for top end run.i,ve drivern a few 308 4 valve cars when new and in a real perfect if possiable run I'd be in the BB if only for the noise and that TORQUE for me the Boxer would run and hide to much TORQUE.
I'd want to be in the BB too but prefer a 355 or 430 for the top end runs there is no doubt the BB is faster than the 328 but if you look at the figures and the day to day real world use of the cars there isn't really case for the BB over the 328, especially when the 328 is more "practical" for storage and touring
I've heard they have infra-red cameras now so you don't see a flash if you're speeding, unconfirmed, as I have yet to receive my fines for the trip to Sydney for the xmas run (passed many cameras and no flashes went off so we'll see)
is it partly to do with HOW they go about doing what they do tho JM? the times may be close but the manner is vastly different... a GT-R with a few mods can easily be faster/quicker than an F40 but thatd be missing the point somewhat...
thanks for wheel offer... very kind... but I'll pass for now... just wanna find my feet first, and benchmark myself of course. Jag on saturday.... to enter... see other thread!! (which says to call or email me to get private details of organiser)... I "think" I'm going to it too.... might take BB....
yeah BABY!!!... the BB noise is the BEST sounding whole package of ANY Ferrari IMO... only the 355 with 2.5 Motronic sounds better, but that's just exhaust noise.. not engine/induction/exhaust combined...
where are those figures from Rob... when recorded too?... ie, what spec BB/328... (std I assume, not sports ex)
BB512 carb is 30 MILES/h faster than a 328.... unless you have headlamps on, when the BB twins act like an airbrake and knock 10mph off top speed I've seen indicated 185mph in mine a few times, always at night where illuminated road means long range vis is better... And I've seen indicated 195mph in hi comp equipped car.
