So, there's a small company down in the Financial district that let's you rent an industrial laser. Now, I know what you're thinking. How can thisw be safe? Well, the reality is that you get the laser and a technician so you don't go blowing holes in things that you don't want holes in. In any event, on the eve of Macworld 2007, I headed down there with some friends, our MacBook Pros and some black-and-white PostScript art. What you see took about 2 minutes with the laser. Whaddya think? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmm, so instead of SF shields on the Ferrari, a new business venture: laser it into the metal. Car hoods with massive Ramparte tatoos. Hmmmmmm.
I think ill add a comment as a certified apple technician and an apple business partner.... Awesome! Cant be too good with your screen, but depends on the wattage of the laser. Great look though.
No problems. It was a very low-power setting. I didn't even have to turn the machine off. http://www.adafruit.com/laser $100 for an hour of etching services...
nice. I do ipods all the time with low wattage lasers. Comes out great. Keep your fingers crossed for something nice in about 2 hours
also worried about warranty? Im looking at what I can and cant cover and depending on how I interpret the rules, i could possibly cover that laptop. Who knows, just curious. I know with ipods its covered.
hater Too bad its in here in Detroit, but I've got an engraver here at the shop. I have a 'Pininfarina' jump drive lol.
I engraved my name on the bottom of my last g4 (silver, got the black now) and there was no issue when i squealed warranty for a busted trackpad.
I am having my case annodized http://www.reactivemetals.com/ They used to do custom stuff for me in the past.
