That's a really nice looking car, although I could do without the burl trim in the interior. I wonder if it really was cut by Scaglietti. B-J doesn't seem to be the best venue to sell a car like this.

To answer your question, my opinion is that price is dependent upon the activity at the bidders' bar and whether the bidding for the car is covered live by Speed TV....

The coupes are fetching next to nothing and a cut car should fetch about as much, but probably less because is a particularly unloved and, IMHO, very ugly car.
Ferraris don't do well at BJ which is why it is a good place to pick one up cheap. I have bought a 264 GTS at BJ at about half of what the market is getting for them now and I bought a quite nice 365 GT 2+2 two years ago for next to nothing.

 

I say $50,000.00 to $70,000.00

 

No 365 GTC/4s were cut by Scaglietti. None.

(That's the same number of Daytona coupes which were converted by Scaglietti, too. None.)

Ex-Scaglietti employees, perhaps. Parts from Scaglietti, maybe. Joe Scaglietti's bodyshop in downtown Newark, New Jersey; a possibility.

That car has been floating around for sale for quite a while but it only takes two suckers at an auction to drive the price to the sky so, we'll see!

My thoughts exactly, This will not be a TV car and somebody will likely get a fun car at a very good price.

 

I always have a chuckle when a Ferrari rolls across the stage at BJ. Out of thousands of cars, they will offer a grand total of 6 Ferraris! And, for the most part, they're run-of-the-mill street cars. Nothing special. Obviously, BJ has never been and certainly isn't now the place to go for Ferraris.

If I watch BJ, it's only so I can learn something about some interesting old cars. I don't really care too much about them, though, and I still think it's quite humorous to see buyers paying what they pay for American iron. Of course, it's their right to bid Mopar, CoPo and such cars up, but it just doesn't do it for me whatsoever.

Moreover, the "personalities" are enough to turn me off. Craig Jackson is annoying to me. Alan Lewenthal is a big ham. And, if I have to hear one more time just how hot that woman auctioneer is, I think I'll open up a vein.

the car sold at bj about 4 yrs ago...went for over $100k. it will sell north of $120k. i promise.

that said, it will be harder to sell f-cars at bj as it has become the muscle car market maker.

sad really...how many 67 vettes can one stand to see on tv crossing the line?

One of these has been floating around the Kruse Auction in Auburn for a few years. I wonder if this is the same car. I would be surprised if it brought very much at Barrett-Jackson.

 

I actually really like the look and would readily bid 30K for it

 

There was a similar car on ebay not long ago, not quite as nice (abandoned project) with a 'buy it now' of $34k.

Except for the two 512bbs from 2005, Ferraris have sold on-market or high for the past few years at BJ. That '81 512 was smoking pretty bad though from the tv feature. Oddly, the bidders seem to bid up the newer cars for some reason. Not sure what the market is on a gtc/4 spyder though. In front of that crowd, it wouldn't surprise me if the car drew little to no interest. A daytona spider maybe, but this funky car will give 1970's ferrari's a bad name.

imo - Marketing, feeds the myth. Why invest in that Italian stuff that no one gets excited about when there's hot genuine American Metal. It IS an amazing show to watch.

Agreed. It's interesting to note that from some angles this "hottie" looks like a skinny guy w/ long hair.

That said, the whole bloody thing is rather disgusting, yet amusing in a "least common denominator" sort of way.
