Yes it's ricey (but that's Japanese style). Yes it's an automatic. But I think it looks mean as hell and I want one.

I dislike the poor 456 side copy. If you are going to copy the 456's side fender, do it at least right.

    a) If that's true than the 456 copied the Viper

    b) The Lexus at least looks cool, the 456 is awkward ...IMHO.

    a. Not quite. the viper uses a different line. In fact, it is exactly opposite. The viper's curved down to the nose in a arch. The 456 came up from the mid section in a straight line, not unlike what the lexus is *trying* to do.

    b. Awkward = not balanced, yet the 456 design is much more balanced then this Lexus. How you can like this but call the 456 awkward is rather amusing.

From an armchair Industrial Designer perspective I think the Lexus' fenders have as much in common with the 456 as the 456 does with the Viper ...or the F1 for that matter. Large vents behind the front wheels aren't a Ferrari patent, sorry.

This my be a subjective matter, but in my opinion there are several angles from which a 456 looks awkward. Sure, it looks great from others, but in my opinion a great design should be enjoyable no matter where the camera is placed and by that measure the Lexus is better than the 456 ...IMO.

There is a bit more to it then that. To call both just 'vents' is likening a bmw kidney grill just a "grill" or a hockey c (or b) pillar just a "pillar."

As far as awkward design goes, to each his own. I see a very nice, complete design without what appears to be after thought add-ons: http://autoimage.autoweb.cz/ferrari/456mgt.htm

456 is much more balanced. IS-F has an aftermarket/tuner look to it.

I like the proportions on the base Lexus IS a lot, but it seems whenever the Asian manufacturers try for 'aggressive' they end up with 'cartoonish'.

The 456 isn't one of Pininfarina's most exciting designs, but it's expertly drawn and has a kind of design wisdom that Toyota-Lexus hasn't quite figured out yet.

It looks nice instead of ricey IMO. Good looks + nice color + nice rims = I want one. That guy next to the car looks like Donald Trump.

Ugly hood, stupid sideburns... And the exhaust... Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to. I get a headache looking at them, like double vision, but the Japanese are experts at giving us seizures from looking at their stuff.

I'm hearing 50K. 70K is way too much... it needs to come in under an M3.

Looks weird, pricing is supposed to be $50K about. Just under the next M3. Don't forget to push the "Hit Apex" button when you're driving around.

The "Hit Apex" button only lights up after UP-UP-DOWN-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT-LEFT-RIGHT-A-B-A-B-START :)

This car looks like a crappy Bangle knock off... all we need is more hideous looking Bangled car on this Earth. Someone just shoot me and bury me in an Aztec toaster with wheels.
