Does anyone know where to buy these black fabric parking bumpers locally?

These are the bumpers you use when you park your car in garages and I've already been the victim of careless parking attendants...

    Thanks!

Hey I have the bumperbadger on my RL, but am switching to these: http://www.eurobumperguard.com/bumper_pad.html

I have even seen some that go on the doors to protect from dings.

Money well spent if you park in a garage.

they didn't work for me, I think they are worse in practice in a public garage... others think your car is protected and they can get as close as they like and bash away, rather than have the fear of the bare ferrari metal. Sooooo. I had a guy in a range rover back straight into my car, had the protector but he had a trailer hitch sticking out the back and he thought nothing happened but under the protector there was dent damage.

Something is better then nothing imho. Even with the rubber bumperbadger, it helps cushion the blow. Sure it won't stop everything, but it does help.

Maybe your garage doesn't like Mondials :)

Stu -- I have seen it done at my garage, but can't find a specific product designed for doors. I think people just take a pad made for the bumper and hang it on the side of the car.

Here's the most popular manufacture: http://www.bumperpad.com/products.html

Well I just got my RL back from the bodyshop and it looks *mint*. As soon as I got it back I put those padded bumpers on...ugh. They are impossible to get them to stay on with less then one person. Worst of all, the straps seem to scuff up the paint! So I'll play with them a little more tomorrow, but right now I am NOT thrilled with the product. I kept the front piece on put the bumper badger on the rear. Hopefully the parking guys will actually be careful this time (considering they paid to get the car fixed).

I seen cars with what looked like foam hung from strings to protect the sides. Easy to make with stuff from homedepot.

I got in a fight with a guy in my garage the other night who had a set of those things on his Honda. It was unrelated to that (he actually staked out his spot to yell at me for parking too close with the company pickup truck a few weeks ago...psycho...). I figured right away he was a nut when I saw those on the front and back of a $15k Honda surrounded by orange safety cones he went out and bought. Anyway, in the middle of our argument I told him I liked his Bumper Bra and that I'm sure it was safely supporting a nice set of Bumper Boobies. He didn't really like that too much. :)

But back on topic, I agree with NYCFERRARIS that they're a waste of money (and most importantly TIME) in NYC parking garages. They will find some way to damage your car no matter what, so your best bet is to just give up and accept reality :) (...or, move to the suburbs where you control your own garage, or better yet, tip your garage guys enough so they get you a spot away from other cars and eliminate the problem entirely!).

You didn't say how the fight turned out. Did you hit him with some deadly punches? lol

Orange safety cones....lol! Wow. That's pretty outstanding. Next time you should bring yellow police crime scene tape and leave biohazard warnings placards about. Are you in a park and lock it yourself place? Unfortunately my place requires the attendants park and retrieve my car, which inevitably leads to them smacking it into a wall or another car as they seem to believe that the best way to drive is: stand on the accelerator, point steering wheel in a direction, close eyes, pray, and extend hand for tip. As such whatever little protection I put on the car helps protect it from their rally car driving.

But you are right, $100 during XMass goes a long way in making them very happy and taking care of your ride. Not much else you can do then that, 'cept move to the burbs or one of the boroughs (rather have a hole in my head).

The price we pay to live in the greatest city in the world I guess.

The reason why i started this thread is that i already had the lower part of the bumper replaced-at the garage's expense-since it was scratched beyond belief....everyone in the garage whips out the bumper pads when they park...

Interestingly, I've parked my 911 with the big black bumpers on them and nary a scratch-if/when I find my Mondial it may have to have the black bumpers on it-a non 3.2 car may be my only option as I do like to drive my cars-even when I'm stuck in traffic in the greatest city in the world....

Paul -- I hear you. For my Z, I have an arrangement where they leave the car in a predetermined spot where nobody parks next to it. Like I said a little extra green goes a long way. For my Acura dailydriver, I just grin and bear it and do as Noah suggested: resign myself to the fact this car will not remain pristine.

I should say that the Z is a large car and takes up a fair amount of space, but I cram it in a corner and ask that nobody touches it.

Every now and then I have to jockey for a spot with this guy in a Lexus SUV who insists his truck should be treated well, like, a big black C6 Z06 and take up a few spots.

His little Honda might have the same value to him as some peoples Ferrari.
Lets just all remember to respect other peoples property and hope to recieve the same in return.

Nabbs-I don't drive to Manhattan everyday so i don't get preferred treatment; oddly enough the manager of the garage knows my old 911-he's a huge 911 fan-and he knows my dd is a BMW; in addition I tip all the guys well but some of them must be frustrated demo derby drivers...

Believe it or not, a ferrari dino used to park there quite a bit-it was in fair condition at best-but i haven't seen it for months now.
