Mine sit on a shelf in the office, away from direct sunlight. I clean them with the compressed air cans I use on my computer keyboard. I have about 30 models, and the UT's are the ONLY cars it's happened to.
strange.. I've tortured diecasts and im amazed this have never happened. Ive accidently left crates out in the AZ summer sun, brought them to race track vendor events w. more dust than a cattle ranch, put them under burning halogen lights, disected them for parts...ect...and still never ever seen it happen. hope some day you can find replacement parts!
Hi there, Below is a link to my ut collection http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=135280789&highlight=richy#post135280789 Reg, Richy
I have more than 100 models 1:18, all exposed on open shelves in a quite dry room. There is no direct exposure to sun and I have never cleaned any models (I am just removing the dust with a kind of brush). On the other hand I have several other UT models (Porsches 911, Boxster,BMW M3, Z3M,...) which are still perfect... I believe that the problem is due to a lack of UV protector in the plastic formulation
