    Have any of you responded to a seller who was trying to run a scam or withhold information? How did you find out the deal was no good?

    How do you find out if a Ferrari was flooded, and the seller is hiding the fact? What other scams are out there?

    I found a guy who claims to have a 348 with all service records for only $12,000. It is funny, but if he would have asked $30,000 I would have took it and thought I was getting a great price. But $12,000 is making me nervous like the car might have been flooded or had something wrong that he is hiding.

    I saw a neglected 308 selling for $19,000. It was not serviced in 10 years and was sitting in a garage and had rust problems. That price I can understand. But the 348 is in very good condition with all service history up to date.

    I just looked and the 348 was removed from ebay. The seller had over 100 in his sales history with over 99% positive feedback. Most of it looked like he was buying stuff and got his feedback as a buyer. The 348 had a buy it now price of $12,000. What was odd was the auction was set to private, and people had to email the seller to get pre-approved before they could bid. The pictures of the Ferrari looked good. But $12,000 for a 348??? He might have fooled people better if he asked $30,000.

    So that brings me back to my original question. I'm sure there are scammers that are smarter and would have asked a price closer to market value. But there is no guarantee the seller is honest. Cars have flooded in the past and have been sold without mentioning the history. I see tons of Corvettes from Louisiana that have new Texas titles being sold up north to unsuspecting people who don't know the electrical hell they're buying. The cars run good for a while, then mysterious problems develop. I want to avoid that nightmare.

    Did you hear about the one where a guy from Toronto got ripped off when he bought a $30,000 H-D soft tail from e-bay, when the seller had 100 transactions and great feedback?

    Guess what? He got the money, but the bike never showed up....and the seller dissapeared.

    The police and lawyers are still investigating.

    Happens quite often unfortunately.

    Beware of buying any sports cars on eBay. You will get email from the seller stating that the 1st buyer didn’t come up with the money and you getting a 2nd chance. They ask you to send a down payment thru Western Union which seems like a reasonably request but once they get the down payment, you no longer hear from them. I bought 2 Ferraris on eBay in 2 weeks from 1 seller. I didn’t make a down payment till I went there and checked the car out. After that I got so many spoof emails that it started to get ridicules.

    Be extra alert if you are buying from a private owner than a car dealer. The private owner might have setup a phony auction just to get a down payment of a couple of grand then their history. Beware of spoof eBay emails too. They look real but what gives them away is the email address they come from.

    I had one guy from UK telling me to send him $2000 to a western union in UK for the down payment when the car was in Las Vegas. I told him I was on my way to western union and to wait there for the money to come. I was just playing with him and he emailed me back if I sent the money yet and told he yes. I said to go back to see if it arrived yet but of course it didn’t. Finally I told him the people at Western Union must be withholding his money and to take it up with them. I wish I had a camera to see his expression when no cash came.;}

    When ever i get the B/S second chance offers I usually respond with a nasty/ gross pic of myself naked. One time they spamed me with 900 plus emails. It took me forever to delete them.
