    How do I remove those d*** aluminum plugs so that I can get to the adjustment screw in the maf sensors? I can't get behind them to pry them out, they just kinda float in place. Whattheheck?

    They is a fairly thick with a circlip holding them in place. Take a 1/8 drill bit drill one hole off center but not near the edge of the plugs. Don't worry about going to deep. The screw is about 1/2" down inside. Find a small wood scew or sheet metal screw and screw it into the drilled hole. Take your pliers and firmly tug it out.

    I popped mine out with a screwdriver, but it was blue plastic.

    My 348 is missing them. They must have been adjusted before...............many times before. :p:p

    Hey, just for kicks, can you give us your Ohm reading on your Mass Air meter? Pull the 6 pin wire plug off and measure the AMM from pin 1 and 6. Its the two outermost pins. Just curious what your might be set at. And the bosch number on top 0 280 212 ***?

    Thanks-I started this thread after messing with those suckers for about an hour-a good deal of that was spent just looking at them. Tried air, knife, cursing, etc. Now that I've seen a pic, it'll be easy. What kind of diabolical mind thought that thing up? Does Ferrari have a special $200 disposable one-use-only tool to extract them?

    Does the kit come with the special screw as well? Do you need one for each side (total cost $400, depending on exchange rate). Special order from Italy?

    Just went out and tested them, values as listed below ;)

    R/H : 379 Ohms...Bosch # 0 280 212 018
    L/H : 380 Ohms...Bosch # 0 280 212 018

    Have you tested yours yet? What were your values?

    R/H & L/H #0 280 212 018's were 382 Ohms, set them to 375 Ohms when I changed exhaust, decat pipes, removed AMM screens. The new setting put the A/F reading back to normal on my monitor. But all thats changed now, the engine is out and the serious mods have begun.

    Must have been factory settings, too, unless there's a special tool (made of unobtanium with a skyhook) to remove the aluminum plugs. My car must have been made on Friday afternoon or Monday morning. Drilled them out per 77's advice.

    Adjusting these values changes the air/fuel mixture. When you change certain components on the car, the a/f ratio is changed. For instance, a high flow air filter allows more air in. A less restrictive muffler allows more out. There should be a corresponding change in the fuel to maximize performance. An adjustment in the maf then is called for or desirable.

    Ok, so what you are saying is that I should be able to get a wide band O2 sensor, monitor my A/F ratio make adjustments to the MAF and get a noticable gain in performance by optimizing the ratio? I was under the impression that the A/F ratio was mapped by the program in the cpu which is mapped across the whole rpm range and in order to change the ratio you needed to reprogram the map. ????? Or are we talking about a difference between OBD I and OBD II here ?
