Knock, knock. Who's there? UPS. UPS who? UPS with your grand prize. As some of you know, when I'm not taking pictures of cars or writing articles for Autoblog and Fast-Autos.net, I am a sweepstakes junkie. Most of the stuff I've won is kind of small and crappy and not worth mentioning, although I have won an LCD TV, a Garmin GPS system, a couple of iPods, an Xbox 360 and even a couple of trips over the past few years. Anyway, every once in a while I come across a sweeps that has a prize that just makes me think the contest sponsor had me in mind when they set it up. Such was the case with a recent Vintage Motorsports Magazine contest. I just filled out the entry form online a couple of months ago, along with about 2,000 other people. I got a phone call from them a few weeks ago saying I had won. Even though I've won stuff before, I was pretty much in shock. This was definitely something I wanted more than most other prizes. I was excited but I've had some bad experiences with bad follow through so I wanted to wait until I had the prize in hand before telling anybody about it. Well, today's the day. Now I want to say upfront that those of you who know me well will understand that I'm not saying this to brag or anything. I'm just so stoked and thought this was a group of friends that might appreciate the prize. It's a replica of Michael Shumacher's 2002 helmet. Same brand and markings as the real one worn by MS during that championship run. The thing that makes this one extra special is the signature on the visor. And in case anybody's wondering, I wear a large, and this went on ok, but was very snug. I'm guessing it's a medium. I think it will add at least 10 mph to my 122 mph personal best in the nanovan. Would have been perfect for the trip back from VCR in Brian's topless Elise. And Chris, first you have to catch me!
Wow.. Now thats the second thing I have seen his signature on this week. How come always in the wrong place. He signed the hood of an enzo and now the visor of your helmet.. Woudnt is make sense to sight the side of the helmet and the Dash of the Enzo??? Either way Frank that prize couldnt go to a more deserving guy.. JJ
Thanks guys. JJ, it would make sense, certainly, but it's a lot easier for vendors to bring a stack of visors for him to sign than a stack of helmets. As for the hood on the Enzo, that's just showing off.
Sweet! You should come to salsa dancing tomorrow wearing that. You'll be the fastest dancer on the floor.
LOL. Hopefully I'll be able to give it to my grandson, Frank Enzo Dino Mario Michael Gilles Niki Ayrton Alberto Juan Phil Filipponio.
Thanks all. I have been a member of Online-Sweepstakes.com for a few years. Just like f-chat, minus the cars. Helpful forum members to guide you to the real deals and avoid the scams.
