My F430 F1 Spider has been given a March build date and I am pressuring Ferrari's press office to allow me to do a factory pick up, something that is supposedly only allowed for their V12 customers now. If they allow it, I will probably be able to get a couple of magazine articles of publicity for them.

It's always been my dream to fly in, visit the factory and drive away in my new Ferrari. Has anyone here actually done it? Any recommendations on roads, where to stay etc?

    TIA, David Yu

I'm sure I read somewhere that Ray Ferguson collected his 430 at the factory - do you know him ?

And then trailered it home to prevent dirt & stone chips !

Yeah I know Ray very well from our old London FOC days!

I heard he then transported the car back and flew home; what a waste! ;)
Does he post on here anymore? If so I'll drop him a PM.

Has nobody else on here ever done it?

People are doing it for their Porsches, Corvettes and Mercs nowadays, and with the popularity of factory visits, I would have thought factory delivery would be a highly desirable option for anyone living in Europe...

The price Ferrari charge for a V12 you would expect delivery to be included... ;)

...we do Guildford on Thursdays, sorry we cannot specify morning or evening...

Hi Adam, I see you've upgraded your ride too, congrats! Did you sell the F355 with the steering wheel and boss?

The rule about "V12s only" came in last year apparently. Spending £155k obviously doesn't mark one out as being a serious contender! :D

I hope they will - I used to love reading the articles about your 355 in Evo, it'd be great to read about the 430 too!

    Hi David

Let me know how you get on with your request. My 430 is due April and I fancy a factory collection as well.

I wanted to collect my 430 – but I was told that the factory couldn’t guarantee the finish date and that they need to ship out the cars straight away because they are short of space.
I still quite fancy it – I’ll give them a call next week and see if they will let me do it if they given me 48 hours notice (car is said to be currently in production- Feb build)

The problem I found when I collected my Lambo was that the roads in Italy are great. I then came back through France (I only had 2 days).
As soon as you get past Monaco the roads are so boring and flat + there are police all over the place
I’ve always thought a great customer thing for Ferrari/Lambo would be to let the customer come over to the factory, drive around for a few days, given the car back and let them freight it back to the UK

Hmm. Interesting, that is more diplomatic than what they said to me, i.e. "V12 customers only"!

I disagree about France being boring, although if you meant you had to rush to get back hence having to use autoroutes all the way, you may have a point.

Ray Ferguson did exactly what you proposed last year; drove it for a day in Italy then had it shipped back. I want to plan a memorable drive all the way back to Surrey!
