Synchro, wanted to comment on your tool kit. My Dad was the second owner of our 1971 246GT (S/N 01296) (he passed away last May and willed me the car). Our original tool kit was stolen some 15 years ago. As I recall the texture of the leather was exactly like yours. I say this with confidence as the jack pouch (that I still have) is of the same material as what you show. I terms of the way the pouches opens, the owners manual (1970 edition) shows the flap on the left, while the parts manual shows the flap on the right. Hope this information helps. Karting?? Just sold my 125 shifter last week. What a blast. Pietro
My 72 Dino came with same tool bag as shown in your photo. Is the red Owner's Manual correct for a 72?
I've seen a couple of toolkits where the small (8/10) spanner has FIAT stamped (indented) on it, are these just make up pieces for lost spanners or were they actually put in there by Luigi?
Did anyone notice the tool kit that sold for $5200.00 this last week and it did not contain the emergency triangle, manual window winder, or spare belts. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4582015113
And a ratty old bag for the jack that is already over $300.00 USD http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4583620843&category=42606
Prices must have dropped, I just heard that they are barely over $4k now and saw this on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8013553410
There's bound to be some ebb and flow in these prices. I didn't think they would hold at over $5K, as there are always some speculators in and out of the market. I think if you look at the educated bidders on this item, Tom S. and wspeer, you see where the market's going. DM
i don't think that dino toolskit are worth %4k. having said that, i didn't think they were worth $2k 10 months ago. there are so few that come up for sale it is hard to put a solid price on one. i do know that there are more active dino buyers now than several months back. i can't say whether they will be willing or want to spend money on useless things like toolkits.
My toolkit is missing the sparkplug removal tool and two wrenches. The wrenches I have are 10/8 and 17/13. What are the other wrench sizes?
I believe the other two wrench sizes are 14/12 and 22/19. If you have a spare parts catalog for your car, it lists the sizes in the section for the toolkit.
Here's a photo of the wrenches in my tool kit. '72 - Don't know if there are variations by year, don't think so. DM Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
looks like the same culprit selling these again, i wonder if they are fakes like lsr's? only kidding, it will be interesting to see what the final result is.
If only we could find a responsible, knowledgeable Ferrari type to authenticate these, then we'd be in luck. Too bad we don't get any around these parts. DM
BUYERS BEWARE SELLER IS A NEWBIE HAS NO EXPIRIENCE IN FERRARI PARTS NOR MANUALS BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE OH WAIT FORGOT BEWARE
what the hell, i'll bid for fun. tom needs to be able to afford to eat. these tools seem like a good cause to support.
That one only hit $3800.00 Here's one that has 3 days to go and is over $4100.00 USD AND Orlando of La Scuderia Rossa (LSR) fame has even asked a question if he would be permitted to buy it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=320071310459
i had contacted the seller about a week ago on the presently active ebay toolkit regarding the tools , he responded that the early kits had gedore tools ...identified with the enlarged ridge along the tool handle and opening...this is the exact tool shape as shown in my owners and parts manual....my publcation date is 36-1970....snaps are on the right in both manuals.....also when a negative( from the photo) is used for reproduction it is easy to turn it over the wrong way when reproduced for copy (we have done this at my office when generating copies of a photo for a printed document) perhaps this is what happened... however if anyone has an early tool kit and needs the later as on ebay i would be willing to purchase and swap...anyone interested???
1) Gedore tools are correct for early cars. 2) Some really early toolkits have snaps on the opposite side - mine is this type. I'm not looking to swap, buy or sell but if you need photos of my kit for reference, I'm always glad to help out. Cheers...Keith
............keith, again thanks for your assistance..and yes i would like as close as possible of your tool kit and tools....particularly the mfg castings, id 's , as well......regards frank
