I've found a guy in Torrance Calif who says he can make an exact replica of the coupling between the air intake and the air box on our 308's. No idea of cost yet, but I'm thinking that if enough of us get one or two, then the price will go down to something more in line with what they should cost. I'm going to tell the guy that we need to get the price under $35 dollars. My question to you folks is, how many would buy at $35 per?

    Thank you,

    Bob Wassam

What coupling are you talking about? Is it for the carb or for the FI? Can you post pic.

i'm assuming you mean the big (4 1/2") flexible rubber hose that sells on ebay for like 80 bucks? if you have someone who can make a repo and sell it for $35 there'll be a line around the block. there was/is a thread started by birdman about this not too long ago.

Birdman's threat plus the fact that I needed one myself made me start looking for the coupling. It's for carbed 308's. It'll be Monday before I get anymore news about the coupling. I know that is a lifetime here on Ferrarichat, but it has to be that way.

That should have been Birdman's thread, vs threat. Birdman hasn't threaten anyone or anything. That was a typo mistake. Sorry.

I'd be in for one, and I don't even need one! Can't hurt to have a spare, and it's all about sticking together! If we need to order "X" pieces, count me in at the $35.00 pricepoint.

Listen, I'm threatening now: get us a good deal or ELSE! ;)

MikeC, the carb one technically has more "pleats" than the injected one, but my experience is that the injected one works fine on both, and IMHO looks a little cleaner on the carb car because the carb one has way more pleats than are necessary. The only exception seems to be that on the GT4 there is more distance to cover between the airbox and the intake, and you may need the one with more pleats.

If we are going to try to get a group buy on this, I think we ought to think about getting the "injected" version made, which has 4 or 5 pleats. (Can't remember, but I will go out in the garage and take a pic tomorrow.)

    Mike,

Your QV takes a similar but shorter hose (pictured below). Both types are available from T. Rutlands for $75 with the band clamps.

They last a long time. I replaced my original bellows hose about three years ago (it was 27 years old then) when it developed a small split.

So I'm good for another 24 years or so.

I've also posted a picture of mine.

Nothing personal, but if I'm in, I'm in for the carbed version of the bellows, as I have a carb car. I'm sure there are enough carb owners & FI owners to get group buys going for both, if so desired. On the GT4, there's just no way the shorter FI piece will work (I assume), but I really want to do my part by participating in the group buy to help with numbers!

Count me in for two if you can get a good price. But I am alongside Birdman on this, that it would be a duplicate of a carbed hose.

I'll take one also, at that price. I prefer the longer, carbed hose.

I'm almost embarrased to post a picture of the 4 inch calder coupling that the previous owner installed, (about $4. Jeez, can you imagine, a poop pipe connector on a 308), so yeah, sign me up for one, (carb version).

    thaks,
    chris

Rob and others, this is an item I have been looking to purchase for my 1978 GTS Weber carbed Ferrari. I would welcome getting in on a reasonably priced group purchase. Put me down for one. Jim in Kamloops, B.C. <[email protected]>

I'd be interested in an injected hose. What do you think the turnaround time will be on this?

I'm very interested in the larger hose that came with the early carbed model 308 GTS cars. Please let me know when they are available and I will send $35.00 cash plus $5.00 for mailing. Regular US Mail works for me:) Jim <[email protected]>
