The song is Natural Blues by Moby. That thing has to be the best use of petroleum fuel since a man called Enzo started a car company in northern Italy...

    3 questions:
    How much?
    From who?
Do I need to get a pilots licence first? ;-)

That is sooooooo cool. There's a video on youtube that's similar. You can do a search on birdman+jet and it will pop up, bu it's not quite as effective as this one. I am a pilot and wonder what the legalities of doing this would be in the US. You're not exactly skydiving and it could probably be construed as being an experimental aircraft by the FAA. That involves some red tape, but I wonder if there is a way to get it approved if necessary. Awesome post!!!!

That is one very brave test pilot. I am surprised he didn't do that flight at a higher altitude.

"JetCat" is a manufacturer of turbines for the modelling industry. They are about 5000-8000$ a piece, he had 4. Not sure what the cost of the custom made wing might be. The turbines are available off the shelf. About 40-50lbs thrust each, run on jet fuel.

That was incredibly brave (stupid?) of him to make low passes at a presumed 200 mph. 1 motor flames out (common) and he spins into mother earth. I can't believe he did that :).

Want more jet info? Look at rcuniverse.com, under "jets." Nice 10,000$-40,000$ playthings...and they crash...regularly. And you thought ferrari's were expensive :).

I have a small one, but will run a ducted fan. 3000-10,000$ per crash is a bit rich for my blood...

The learning curve must be very unforgiving. Did you notice at the end of the video that it says the next one will take off by itself?

Thats gotta be the coolest thing I have ever seen, I can only imagine how amazing of a sensation that must be. And plus one for the song, it goes perfectly with video.

I'm an RC pilot too. Don't you think about a simple R/C jet trainer? They are much more fun. I had a ducted, they're just too hevy for the trust.
Crashes are a part of this hobby :(
