    Chaa,

Vern Cornell took the heatshields off his OEM manifolds and ceramic coated them, he has had no problems to date. Just a thought.

    Chas,

That will keep the arms nicely toned then!!

When you painted the engine frame, did you take the engine out of it or just paint round it??

    Regards,
    Phil.

The engine was striped to the minimum for cleaning and parts replaced with out lifting the block. The subframe could be easily painted with the engine in situ. It would have served no purpose taking out the block, the engine mounts were in good order. For the record i also did not split the gear box from the engine block, or the heads from the block:D:D
MB: Few pics of it going back in.

Some one has asked about if the jacks roll away when the car is mounted. No the jacks dont roll away and the front wheels are chocked front and back. The car is lifted a few inched at a time each side and lowerd a couple of inches at a time. Or if ya have a buddy then you can both raise and lower together. When working under the car stands are used as well as the jacks. Heres a picture of the trolly and jacks ready to lower the car onto the trolley.

How is the progress? Have you decided on a coating for your oil tank? :)

    Chas,

Very nice job you have done on the engine, a promotion is required I think.

I am bloody glad you asked that question mate:D:D Because i enjoy answering that particular question due to it making me sound clever. They are indeed called Harmonic Resonators:D:D They are found for some reason only on 1995-6 European spiders only:D

That is fantastic. You are an inspiration. My dream is to pull it myself when the major is due (but I will get someone else to show me how to do the cam timing)

    Congratulations!

Are those "resonators" capped off on the inboard side? What are they hooked up to? The intake? They look pretty mean.... ;)

They are caped of in two places. The long tube by the air box and also the inner section under the wing has a two inch long tube caped of. On to of them is the air duct, and also they are conected to the airbox. They do look cool, they also fill the engine bay a little more.

I have never seen those before! They do look cool! No wonder your car sounds great!!!

Also I have been meaning to ask you.... Does your Hamonn chip have a higher RPM limit or is that asking for trouble?

No its more of a re-fueling chip mate. Though i want one of them factory fitted chips that Mr Shumaker had on his 355 to allow 10,000RPM!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah that would be awesome!! I'd never sell my 355 then!! Did he also have cams/cam timming optimised for 10k RPM?

So the seat of the pants power was better after just the Hamonn chip or was it a combo of the test pipes and cappy too?

Wow Chaa, that looks well impressive! You should start and do engine overhauls as a business!

How'd the emery cloth + polish go on the manifolds? They look pretty good in the pics!

Mate of mine who is a ferrari tec of 20 years said to me that when he started his ferrari training. He was told that he would never be able to own a ferrari on the wages of a tecy:D
There is not a chance in hell that i would even consider doing anything like this as a living. There is to much time involved for very little pay.
I know there are people who say that working every day with ferraris is a dream job, like as a ferrari tec or even a ferrari sales man. But i personaly truly believe that a dream job, is the job in which pays one enough to allow one to afford to buy ya own ferrari;)....oh and be able to use the bosses collection as well:D:D
