I was at a show recently that was outdoors and saw quite a nice car. A black 360 that was nicely modified by Imola. Hot car. Tinted windows - jet black mat-like paint and a very ALMS look with tow-hook. But, it was dusty and dirty. I thought it was a beautiful look. A car that was obviously used, driven, loved. Not a mirror shine with an owner wearing Gucci. This was a mans car - a real drivers car. The kind of car that scares people. Anybody have pics of their 'driven' Ferrari without the 3 coats of wax? ;)

    Um....

    what???

Do you seek the identities of those who wish to remain anonymous?

And if so, why? Isn't it clear that one of the reasons they feel free to post here is because of that anonimity?

I changed this post due to the fact that it began as a duplicate of another of mine. Thought I had it deleted, though found out otherwise later on. We will continue it as this newer one. Thanks.

True story: was at my folks place last week near Armand Circle (or whatever) in Florida and my dad and i laughed about how during an FOC Ferrari gathering last year when it appeared it might rain then MANY of the Ferrari guys quickly headed out... with one guy saying his car has never seen rain. i wonder if Ferrari is making their new cars out of sugar or some other substance that melts when wet?

Me? i have tracked my car at super slippery Lime Rock Park during hard down pouring rain at an FCA event when virtually no one else was willing to give it a go. Also tracked at NHIS in the rain, Watkins Glen during showers... it is just a car, drive it :)

Darn girly-men i gotta tell ya!!!! Perhaps the dealers are mainly selling new cars to guys who lack, well... dangling bits :->

Just yesterday I saw a Gallardo in downtown Chicago in stop and go traffic as I was walking next to it. It was fairly dirty but I loved that because this guy drives his Gallardo, in the winter, in downtown Chicago, in heavy traffic! I've not seen a Gallardo so close before and it really made my day; what a beautiful car! Obviously I'm partial to Ferraris but I'd love a Gallardo!!

I should post a picture of my 456 sometime. My theory is that a good coat of dust and dirt preserves and protects that finish!

There is also a picture of a dirty 360 in a parking garage in Kansas, that someone was going to steal. Search the thread for Abandoned Ferrari in Parking Garage or something along those lines.

In 2001 I took my Black Testarossa with chrome wheels to a smaller local Italian Car show in Alameda. I had just driven it back from a lengthy trip through the mountains around Tahoe. It was covered with dust and bugs and dirt and debris still in the interior. I decided to take it to the show the next day without a clean up since I too like the freshly used look...you know of a car that actually gets driven long and hard on occaision. Without identifying myself I dropped by and listened to the comments from the other attendess-everything from "yeah man that's how it ought to be, this guy drives the thing" to long discussions of what a bastard/idiot/slob I was that didn't deserve the car since I obviously didn't care". It was very amusing since I looked after the thing pretty carefully : ) In later years the invites to the show mentioned the cars should be washed : ) not sure if that was because of me or not or if I just didn't notice it before

I remember seeing at least 8 modern Ferrari's, mostly Marenello's and a number of Porsche GT2's in Paris a few years ago, in the rain, and in the ridiculous traffic in Paris. Those 6 abreast left hand turns and 4 lanes that end up being 6 or 7 would make me nervous in my crappy rental car. Not sure if the drivers just love there cars so much they have to drive them or they are so filthy rich who care's about dents/dings.

How about as a camping mule, this is after driving in a 12 hour endurance race (not in the mondial). It poured most of the race and the 200 mile drive home the next day.

I will admit I usually only put one good coat of wax on my car, but here's mine taken during the 2003 Vintage Car Race, here in Vancouver. It was especially rainy that weekend and the paddocks/parking lot is dirt and gravel, so it became a muddy mess by the end of the weekend:

You guys should really stay out of the salt, that stuff will eventually totally destroy your car. Dirt, mud, sand, bugs, tar, road grime, or rain? Thats all okay. Salt? Nooooooo........

These are from last fall at a local Italian car meet. Rained all day. I put over 100 miles on the car in the rain. Mine is the red 308. The '59 Stanguellini was really neat. There were quite a few older Ferrari's, even a 250 TDF that was driven in the rain.
