I think at some point they ran out of steam and the plots got kind of loopy even by '80s television standards.
I've got 1-5, except for 4. Not sure how I missed that one. But I haven't watched them all yet! How many seasons were there anyway? Birdman
8 seasons. I watched it from the pilot to the end. In fact I very clearly remember walking impatiently with my mother at the supermarket the evening it first aired. I had seen the preview and saw the Ferrari (unlike many, I had cought the Ferrari bug the summer before when a yellow 77 308 GTB screamed past my house). I was afraid we wouldn't make it home in time to see it all. I was 13 at the time and we did make it. I always felt it went downhill after the 3rd season. In fact by 84 I continued to watch more or less out of obligation to that car. The first three seasons will always be my favorites. We couldn't afford a VCR back then (good luck finding one for less than $700 1981 dollars) so I would tape some of the shows on a cassette just to replay the Ferrari engine sound. My all time favorite was from "Don't Say Goodby" when Magnum passed that truck chasing a Mercedes. I think I replayed it a million times. I still have that tape somewhere. I know. Sunds like I needed to get a life but it was fun for a 7th grader who had no other way to satisfy a 308 craving besides the occasional article in R&T or C&D. ( I had all those too)
Number 4 starts off with Home from the Sea, probably the best episode of the series ('treading water'...)
