Well said. I agree. John IS the real deal and doesn't have to prove anything, and no one should be trying to call someone out on something. If you don't like a story, just keep it to yourself and not waste board space. We are all here to chat about our common love for cars, not about how we don't believe what someone is saying. John is an awesome guy with a great collection of cars, and I'm sure ZR1 isn't that bad a guy in person, let's remember that we're here to talk cars. An like Fastlanken said, if John was a jerk I would stand by him, but he's not, so let's try and remember why we are one the boards in the first place.

ZR1, it is irrelevent whether or not you thought what he did when buying the F40 was rude, because the ropes and sign were to keep window shoppers from mauling a car they had no intention of buying.

John, on the other hand, had every intention of buying it, right there and then.

Therefore, your point is rendered moot!

From what I know of John, he has been nothing but a funny, interesting, polite guy wanting to share his incredible collection, and for someone to come in and bash him like that is not cool, as I assume you have discovered! John has taken time to personally message me numerous times through MySpace, and I feel privelaged that he would take time to answer questions from a random kid from Colorado.

Being nice can get you a long way in life, and I think John is an example of that. Search for the video where he gave Mike a ride in his Enzo! MY OWN UNCLE didn't even take me out that long in his Enzo! LOL. I hope this isn't how you treat everyone who has a story you disagree with :-/

Look, I think this is stupid. I know John pretty well, and from what I know he is only a GREAT guy. I have had lunch with him, rode in his Enzo, talked on the phone, messaged on myspace, and all of it has been nothing but nice, fun, and a good time. Just because he is a heir, doesn't mean he doesn't work hard. He runs company's, and takes care of himself pretty well. Generous to all people, he has nothing for me to hold against him!!!

I've known john for a little bit but I can tell you he's a great busniess man. With all he has you would never know if you meet him in person.
With all the $ he is still savey in what he buys and knows his busniess. Regardless of his family he would have made it $ anyway.

it seems like john has been very generous to everyone he's met on these forums, in person, or not. It speaks a lot that he takes time to get involved with the people here. He obviously has a great collection of cars, and a successful business, and it's great that he wants to share all of that with everyone. I can't tell you how many times i've been shouted at by an exotic owner for even getting too close to their car in the parking lot, let alone touch it. They worked hard for it and it's fine to be protective, but there's no need to act like an ******, either.

That is exactly how John acted. He should own up to his actions. John said he had a ZR1 at age 18. I suppose he worked for it? I suppose he worked for the Ferrari his daddy purchased for him? John uses statements like "Don't hate the player... hate the game". Where is language like that used except in the ghetto. So while John might live in a wealthy neighborhood, he has the mindset of a ghetto person. He has no self control.

One thing you need to learn here ZR1. Fchat is a group of people that enjoy cars and each other's company and the occassional banter. One thing I have learned is that treat people with respect and they will do so in return regardless of difference of opinion.

I am not sure if you are trying to determine the worth of a person by their dress, attitude in a dealer's presence or financial prowess, but I am sure as you get older you will find it is none of these. Forgive my ignorance on this subject because I can not ascertain from your posts exactly what it is you wish to accomplish here. I have not mt John in person, but I hope to do so before too long either when I return to LA or when he gets his a55 here to Paris! Why do I want to meet John? Well other members like Las (FastLankan) say he is a good guy, and that it all I need to hear.

 

John (just by virtue of his collection) knows what he's doing. Obviously he came into a chunk of cash when he was 18 (guessing a trust, not his father) and has managed to thrive after that. But really, who cares? It takes all types.
