    I want four of those. The last one is just ugly (IMHO).

    I'll put in my vote for the Acura NSX. I'm certainly biased, but it has a lot going for it. Low production numbers, hand-built, very advanced for its time, very attractive, and there are few low-mile examples left - a credit to its reliability and drivability. The early models have certainly stopped depreciating, and are probably starting to go up in value.

    I'm sure there are other good candidates as well, but this one comes to mind immediately.

    I think NSX's will go up, as well as Lotus Exiges. The Exige Sport Cup will be worth A LOT one day, as I think there were less than 100 made. Also, I think the Ariel Atom will be worth a lot, and maybe the Toyota Prius, since it was really the first truely successful hybrid...

    maybe the carreras, but have you see the prices of turbos and turbo S? The 993 turbo and turbo S are worth more than the 996 turbo and turbo S

    Show me where you're finding these cars please? The dogs of any brand will depreciate, but well-sorted 993s have been APPRECIATING in value the last several years. You can get a 4-6 year newer, lower mileage 996 carrera for less money than a well sorted 993. Problem is, it's difficult to track sales of good cars because in my experience they don't change hands through dealers often. My neighbor bought a perfect 95 993 coupe and paid around $40M, private party sale. If you look hard at most of the 993s being advertised in the high twenties to low thirties I think you'll find that they usually need anywhere from 6 to ten thousand dollars in work to bring them up to snuff.

    I think mostly the rare color cars will go up in value (comp orange and mystic). There will also be the low miles non molested cars that will bring money. It seems like every 03-04 cobra has a steig ported eaton.

    I think the blue w/ white stripes 1996-97 Viper GTS and the Ferrari F40, as well as many of the others listed above, some will go up in value more then others.

    Got to bump this thread as I was just thinking in these terms again.

    Revised list;
    NSX simply revolutionary and low production.
    Porsche 996 GT2 and 3. GT2 only 1056 produced for the world.
    GT3 already has a cult status as they drive the wheels off of them. 993TT too many produced, 993TT S already at 200k ! Never were cheap.
    Z8 BMW. Only one BMW pick per customer please.
    512M
    And last but not least and my personal Fave;
    The XJ220.The rumors that this car actually caused the economic crash of the time cannot be substantiated ;) Unloved now, low production in its day was an F-40 and 50 beater and look at their prices.

    American cars; only the Ford GT
    High production #s hurt the rest.

    Well, here is my personal experience on a few that I thought would be great investments:

    Corvette ZR1 - My 95 (#401 of 448, the last year) cost me about 40K, now has slipped to 30K at 30K miles. I don't think there is much hope of going back up soon - factors are that so many sit with 300 miles on them under a plastic bag, and that now the attention has gone to the new Z06 and the coming supervette. To think that people paid as much as 100K for these...

    Corvette Z06 - My 2004 is simply doing the usual Corvette depreciation ride with age and miles - nobody cares about the C5 anymore now that the C6 is out. Same story will apply to C6 Z06 when the blue devil comes out.

    Porsche 993 - Even the TT and TTs models are subject to miles and condition. Normally aspirated? Only worth anything with low to medium miles. I had my 93000 mile driver car rebuilt (by RUF no less) and it is still about a high 20s car because of the miles.

    Ford GT? - probably so, but I am skeptical about the number made and the plastic bag museum car syndrome. Didn't everybody say an early Testarossa is practically worthless as a collector because they made about 7000?

    My step-daughter has one of the last Nissan 240SX coupes, and every rice-rodder in town begs her to sell it to them to make a drift car. Maybe I should just go and buy the nicest Turbo Corvair I can find...and haul it over to Jackson Barrett and start a new craze!

    Most people forget that. The M coupe was hailed as 'weird' when it came out, and it will remain so. It's kind of like the automotive equivalent of getting your eyelid pierced -- not so practical, not so attractive, but makes a statement. Kind of a BMW Aztek.

    Also, collectors like open cars. Whether it's Jag, Porsche 356, Ferraris, Maserati or even muscle cars, convertibles tend to appreciate more over time. The huge exception would be the Gullwing 300SL, because its dramatic feature happens to be its doors.

    Not sure about the M3. They're dirt common, and what other four-seat BMW coupes have really soared in the collector market? If anything, maybe the M version of the Z3 would register more among collectors, who like fun, open cars.

    Z8 has held its value nicely. As long as the aluminum/bonded bits don't distintegrate over time it should be OK. They are stunning cars.
