Top Gear starts tonight, I can't wait. I just downloaded the two trailers for it but can't play them in Windows Media Player because I don't have the proper codecs. Anyone know what I need to do? Thanks
Where did you download the trailers? (so i can see what kind of file they are and then tell you want you need to download)
Do you have divx? if you don't download it and see if it works. http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/
I will second the DivX recomendation.... it takes a bit of searching but you used to be able to just get the codec rather than the whole DivX player.
I'll try that download. Thanks. I installed the Divx Codecs but windows media player still says it is missing codecs. Do I have to find the divx ones and import them into the windows player?
Was it this file ? http://www.mininova.org/tor/561772 I would either suggest getting the VLC player here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Or downloading this codec pack here. http://hellninjacommando.com/defilerpak/ Or was it this trailer? The clip is only 13 seconds long, but it is playable in my browser (Firefox). http://www.finalgear.com/news/2007/01/28/yet-another-top-gear-preview/
The actual scene releases are in Xvid. Not sure what the trailer was encoded in, but just get this tool called G-spot http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htm It will tell you what codecs any vid needs and if they are installed on your pc. I prefer using the k-lite codec pack from www.free-codecs.com Other option as mentioned above is to get VLC Player as it runs practically anything but I have had some stability issues with it.
