very nice pics Scott. i saw the orange car at the GP a couple of years ago. what is the 2 seater open wheeler in the back ground?
I believe a scrap-metal merchant here in Vic. also owns a std. McLaren, its road registered too."MCALEF" or similar [he is Maltese].It was at the motor-show one year. How embarrassment for McLaren, in bed with M.Benz, and its star car [a Ultima clone] is powered by BMW donk! M
As for the dash spare parts would be easy to find...just go down to Dick Smith and pick up a couple of switches
Are you sure the orange GTR was at the GP? The 'standard' grey F1 has been there the last couple of years. Image Unavailable, Please Login
could be. i'll have to check my pics. i didn't think there were too many road registered F1's around.
It gets driven on the road now too (not my pics): http://img161.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=53826_mclarenf1s_windsor37_122_189lo.jpg http://img166.imagevenue.com/view.php?image=53738_mclarenf1s_windsor_122_209lo.jpg
Why did you double C Mclaren in the title? Also Mclaren had nothing to do with Merc when they built the car, why would Mclaren be embarrassed?
Exactly, Its an amazing engine - and BMW certainly hit the nail on the head. The F1 was built awhile before Mclaren and Mercedes were associating with each other.
Great pics! The orange car was on Fifth Gear a few months back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkfvQvc9ipI There is a few vids of the Lark GTR on www.revlovers.com. Worth signing up to see it in action.
Thanks for the EXCELLENT photos 360C. Very kind of you to share them with us all. I'm sorry - but would you mind explaining what you mean by "Ultima clone". >8^) ER
Oh, thought everybody knew. The McLaren F1 development hacks [called Albert/Edward] started out as 1991 Ultima Mk.3's. McLaren purchased 2 of them and more or less cloned it, and out popped the F1 [with a more exotic BMW powerplant, gold-leaf etc etc] McLaren of course tried to keep it all hush-hush.... http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/history/mclaren.html This company makes about the fastest +road+ racecars on the planet, i believe they have the 0 -100MPH - 0 record too. M PS Just like haonda, they have the largest collection of Italian motorcycles on the planet, fully reverse engineered and cloned
Indeed they do, other than top speed [not listed] it smashes every other *production* car ever built, to pieces, inc the Bugatti Veyron: http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/records/part6.html 0 - 100MPH = 5.3s One word for it, WOW! M
