Had the steering wheel off a '98 550 Maranello. After install, the airbag light is on. I know now that I should not have turned the key on with the airbag disconnected... hindsight is great!

Local dealer want's to charge $350.00 to hook up to the SD1/2/3 (?) to reset it!

I've searched the boards and have found that other dealers may charge $100, and an argument could be made for minimum labor charge being an hour... Other dealers perform this service for FREE!

Now I don't have a long standing relationship with the local dealer, so I don't really expect FREE, but please...

Is there REALLY no other way to reset the light?

    Thanks for any info
    Tony

We have inquiring minds an we want to know.......Which dealer?

It is going to take someone with either an SD1,2, or 3.

Those machines are very expensive and personally I think a minimum charge of $100 or 1 hr labor is reasonable.

People like to help out a lot more and can help more if we have a profile to work with.

I guess you caught my post before I edited it Bubba... pretty quick.

I deleted the reference to my location so in an attempt to not antogonize the local dealer, Ferarri of Long Island.

Most of our ferraris are older, were purchased used and some are rare. Most repairs are done in house or by independent facilities... the local dealer sometimes has trouble even getting parts.

The $350 quote was a cold call.

I also think that an hours labor would be fair.

Brian, I updated my profile a little. I don't own the cars listed, but do some repairs on these and others in a private collection.

I was hoping there was some way to reset the light without the factory equipment: grounding a pin or disconnecting the battery. But, from searching this and other websites I guess that is not possible.

I guess the next step is to call FoLI again and see if they will reconsider, and accept an hours labor...

Lots of great info on the site...
    Thanks for the feedback

    Tony

Thanks for the info. Sometimes a geographic location helps.

I have been in high overhead dealers and understand their position but even in a high overhead area, $350 for 10 minutes work with a special piece of equipment is high.
