Maybe I am missing something, we have had lead acid batteries for longer than any of us have been around, what's the big trick in keeping 100+ year old technology charged?

I thought it was just English cars that had electric anomalies

I would love to replace my clock, probably will, with a volt or amp meter.
Every radio you would buy for the car has a clock in it that keep acurat time.

I have no idea what color the clock hands are in our car,

I find analog clocks in cars with digital radios unneccessary and the mounting could be better used. I would guess there is a instrument shop that could match the instrument face and just swap the bezel from the old clock.
The hard work is deciding what you want to monitor

The topic has indeed become a "tender" one but apparently everyone has it wired with a "battery" of comments!!

Outrageous. Absolutly outrageous. I often wonder just what it was that I did to while away the hours, here in Boregon, before FChat.

It's sumpin ain't it? 7 pages on how to keep your battery from going dead. And if that is not enough there is a parallel thread going in the 360 area.

I still think we need to get back to timing belts.

Speaking of timing belts. Wonder if ostrich or aligator or the skin of some other warm blooded thingy might last longer than Goodyear rubber? Could be a 'one upmanship' deal. 'Well, mine are natural goat skin and yours are rubber. Hah'. 'I'l get the trophy this year'.

No duplicates right now...I gave away one Deltran and one Griot tender.

I know some of them have spark and short protection, but not sure if all (I would assume so, in order to get the various safety ratings they have on the cases). Since I don't use clamps, only a cigarette lighter adapter or hardwire with ring connectors directly to the battery, it is of no concern to me anyway. Using clamps is a PITA! :)

One thing to remember if you keep your car on charge all the time is the escaping Hydrogen. There isn't much unless you are bringing back a low or dead battery. This picture is a good reminder to be carefull around a charging battery.

Morning Brian. There are 2 or 3 out there. I think 1 in England and perhaps another down under. Have seen articles of one here but not sure where exactly. The guy that rebuilt my Merlin did a resto on a Dalmer for someone here a few years ago. Mike was showing pix of it to us at Reno. Quite a machine. Inside looks like your Rolex. No machine marks anywhere in that thing. Germans are the root of all cool machines.

Alway been interested in DB 600 series motors. Only seen one from the other side of the ropes at some museum. Would love to see one laid open. Would love to hear one pulling a few inches in the manifold at 100 Ft.

Quite a piece considering it was almost as old as a Kestrel.
