    Hi Guys,

I am looking at purchasing a villa (4+ bedroom) in Dubai (Emirates Hills etc) within the next couple of months and figured this would be the best place to post a request for help.

Was wondering if anyone had a real estate agent / agency contact they could share. Please let me know via PM or through this thread.

    Thanks for your help.

    Danysh,

I live in Dubai and have bought and sold some properties from this agent, they are professional and ethical from my personal experience. You can contact him on his cell at +97150-873 4099 - Mr. Naveed at Crown Gulf Properties.

If you need any further info, will be glad to help.

    Cheers.

    Ali

How much is property there? Like say for example the villa you are looking at?

Is a "westerner" allowed to own property there?

    Thanks.

From what I've seen villa's in Dubai (Emirates Hills, Green Community etc.) run from 4M Dhirams all the way to to 20M+ Dhirams (Palms,Marina etc.) The properties I am looking at are more towards the lower end of the scale. Anyone can own property in Dubai on a freehold or leasehold basis.

    Don't.

    Ever.

This is more boring than watching paint dry.

I guess it would make even Tulsa kinda fun.

As your parents probably told a long while ago, don't believe everything that's on TV. This place is pure crap.

Even if i had a truck full of cash and no real reason for having it, i'd probably prefer sitting in jail, or in Sibiria. It's more fun.

    Oh,

that is unless you want to use the latest promotions, like having a jag for free and a chance to win a private jet.

    Bubble anyone ?

I think Dubai is overhyped. Sure, it's still growing and it does have 15% of the world's cranes building it into a giant city, but why move there? The weather is nice, sure, but what about everything else? Freedoms? Equality? Employment? Language? It's just not worth the hassle, IMO.

Sure, it would be fun to say, "Yeah, baby, I've got a villa in Dubai," but even that is dubious! ;):D

I feel the same way about switzerland. Obviously youve never been to Dubai and know nothing about it. Why are swiss people such pricks?

By the way, 25% of all cranes in the world are in Dubai. I would argue that it is not overhyped. As opposed to many places around the world that just build and hype because they can, Dubai is committed more than any other place in the world to making their vision a reality. I've watched that place progress over the last 10 years, and I'm telling you, every year it changes at an unimaginable level. It is the place that makes things happen, and their rulers are committed to investing and insuring that their vision is realized. If anyone is interested I can provide all the facts and statistics to prove my point. There is a specific way to go about real estate in Dubai, anyone who is interested can PM me for details.

My mistake dude. Though i do speak something else than english as well :)

Anyway, i've been there, could speak about it some friends of mine who live and work there (from different origins, cdn, middle east, europe etc), and none of them seemed to be convinced by life there.
I stayed at the BAA, it's crap.
I used to live in Cairo for a while, so i know a bit middle eastern life, and honestly it's much more fun. Unless maybe you're into (...) b!tches
