GOR is chock full of revenue raising camera's and radar guns these days. Enjoy the view at the speed limit is all it is good for.

    isnt that bad

the open country stretches (apollo bay onwards to pt campbell) are cop zones....but the twisties between apollo bay and anglesea are ok

approaces and exits of towns are the killer, watch ur speed thru them!

yeah ive also learnt my lesson (never with cars that expensive though) better off buying 1 or 2 years old depending on what your after.

whats the penalty for a Radar Detector in VIC?
    or for a Jammer?

Yeah; but I have done all the dumb things..........normally more than once!
Trying to only spend the big bucks on stuff I want to keep forever now. Easier said than done though as the new high tech stuff is pretty interesting for a died in the wool gear head.

Radar detector fines? Dunno now; but in Vic they probably line you up against a wall and shoot you. Can't interfere with that mega income stream now can we?

I saw on the news that they have seized 3000 vehicles under the new hoon laws to date. Don't think they have sold any at this point though.

I heard somewhere that there is an action at the moment as confiscating cars under this act is unconstitutional, as you are being deemed guilty without a trial.

Apparently the movement is trying to reverse it back, as the police officers are actually breaking constitutional law.

I dont know what chance theyve got, and its only something i got a little info on, so i dont know just how true it is.

I'm pretty sure that for a radar detector it's 9 points plus fine (the only thing I could find online stated "more than $1000" for Vic, and NSW law states "Maximum penalty: 20 penalty units" {$110 is one unit}).

One of my mates brought one back the US, found out what kind of penalties there were, and thus has never used it.

I know someone who has used 'em for the last 15years without a single drama in Vic. Clue: The trick is in the installation.

Oh I agree 100%, permanent install in, say, the front bumper with a readout somewhere near all the rest of the dash gauges.

I'm just guessing of course :D

radar detector is death .... jammers are given a tougher penalty

I built a jammer many many years ago with a 100W linear amplifier, the FCC picked the signal up from miles away, I wanted to melt the cop radar guns (stupid me didn't realise they have a shunting resistor in them for yobs like me and the gun just redlines)

It was a $2000+ fine back in the old days before electricity :(

a jammer is totally illegal because you are transmitting in a spectrum reserved for licensed equipment which Joe Blow can't buy (but you can always make these things ;) )

there are radar detector detector vans doing the rounds which I've been told lock onto the PLL (phase lock loop) in the detectors which are the only active component of a detector because basically these units are passive (Rx), jammers are active (Tx)

you know that in certain states that if the cops suspect that you have a jammer they can impound your car and have it strip searched ?
