Once question I would have about the nefarious usage of your photographs, how did they get highres photos to publish? I have shared some vintage photos here knowing that at 800 x800 pixels, you would be hard pressed to print anything over 2.66 inches by 2.66 inches. You can fudge the numbers a little to streach the pixels out even more, but you will start to see jagged edges at any sharp lines on the image.

I'm attaching an example of an image I have shared from the Scuderia Bear Collection by the McKelvy family. The first image is 800pixels x730 pixels at 72 dpi. I then took that same image, resized it to 300 dpi which then provided an image 2.67" by 2.2" or so.

Was the quality of the images any good in the book? Or were they used at a smaller size? I guess I really need to watermark all the images I share. I hate to do that, it detracts from the overall beauty of the shots. Then again, I would hate to see the images used without permission and then the owners of the photos come after me!

    best wishes

    Ken

Yes, it is 3223 at the Nassau event as raced by Scuderia Bear. You can see their emblem on the fender.

Bertocchi, I was still wondering about my questions above, at what size were the purloined photos of yours used in the book? Where they bigger than 3x3 inches? If so, what was the quality? If the quality was good, how did they get the images in higher res then what you have so kindly shared with us here.

I ask the question because I fear for the protection of the photos that I have shared. I have already noticed some of the images showing up in other threads without reference to the original owner. I'm not too concerned about that, because there is no profit motive. But if someone can lift an image from this thread and publish it at reasonable size in a book, that's another matter.

    regards

    Ken

    Ken,

All of the photos were copied off of Ferrarichat and this particular thread. I usually post my photos at 800 X 600 pixels which I believe is the maximum this forum allows.
Once they are copied they can be manipulated to any size you like however 800 x 600 loose resolution quickly when enlarged. That did not stop this guy!
It appears as though photos published in other books have been scanned or copied with a high resolution copier and used in the Rodriguez book.
I just spoke to my dear friend Jesse Alexander whose work is very well known. Several of his classic photographs were used without his knowledge or consent. I brought this to his attention just tonight.
There are photos from Schoen's book on the Ferrari Cobra wars also used. My email to Shoen bounced back though. I'll bet he does not know about this either. And these are just the photographs I recognize because I own have have read the books they came from. This guy is in for a s$%tstorm!

Unfortunately I suggest from now on every photo that you post on the internet has a 'watermark' across it to reduce the likelihood of it being 'easily' copied.

You mean the small round one? The rectangular one behind the front wheel well is certainly NART.

it is. but by us standards it was small back then.

i remember being in luxombourg in 1973 and seeing a buick electra 225 about a 1963 model parked along side the road. it was just so HUGE compared to the other european cars!

another startling thing was seeing a winnebago coming into the campground in rome in same year. it was just twice the size of any european camper. it looked like a house on wheels. today that would be a small motor home!

so as our cars have shrunken, our motor homes have ballooned! but with the modern diesel engines they use a lot less fuel than the older smaller ones.

You can also go directy to Negri's site (www.negri.it) and click on the word "mostre" at the left. You can then click on the individual "mostre" of Zagato, Abarth, Touring, etc...more nice photos.

This is from Negri's book on the Lake Garda race

I had find these picture in the book "GT40" by Ronnie Spain; it seems to me that it's the same car. This is the 275GTB/C chassis 9063 driven by Sam Posey and Ricardo Rodriguez ( not Pedro brother ) at Daytona 24 hours 1969.

the designers on both sides of the pond were looking at each other's work. it still is going on.
