This really is a two-part question. 1. What would you say is the most fun Ferrari you've ever driven? For me, it was a 512 Boxer I got to drive on my 27th birthday as a gift from the owner. That was like lightning in a bottle. One of the most exciting driving experiences I've ever had. 2. Of all the Ferraris you've actually driven, if you had to pick a model that you had to drive three or four days a week to work, to the store, to wherever, which would you choose as the most enjoyable regular driver? I drove a 5-speed 400i for a weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised. I could see driving it on a daily basis, much more so than the Boxer.
I do not really have all that much experience in Ferrari so take this for what it is worth - but, - from the way you framed the question - I would have to say a 1972 Dino 246 Coupe I had a test drive in when it was brand new. Everything about it was just perfect, except that it cost about 12,000$! I didn't buy it for two reasons: a) It was not quite as fast as my Porsche 911, and - b) I was a 23 year old idiot at the time.
456M witha 6sp. was totally perfect for daily use and weekend touring. Being tall I really like the way the 308GT4 feels.
Testarossa, Testarossa Her potion; sordid and potent. Forged is this opus, gorgeous in motion. The sort of commotion that forms when swarms of convulsions are warm and orders are spoken, borders are broken through hordes of emotion. Testarossa, Testarossa... Fleeing, we sought roads; seeing we lost those in the rearview, a clear view and a screaming exhaust note had me dreaming, speeding thoughts so seething, air breathing through taut nose. Testarossa, Testarossa... Bending with curves. Sending the verve to nerve endings; a purge was the never-ending with her. Sensing the swerve, gently, we were intensely a blur. Testarossa, Testarossa. Get the most of extra closeness; test the roads with sex in doses; dressed in prose addressed to focus, say it twice, Testarossas.
NNO - I imagine you have driven quite a few Ferrari's. Good to know you find the Testarossa to be so enjoyable to drive. It seems like you can find good examples at decent prices right now. I have never driven a Ferrari. Just sat in a number of them over the years.
For some reason I had the theme music from "Lola" playing in my head when I read that. Maybe you can do a cover. "T-E-S-Testaroooooooosa, T-T-T-Testarossa...........
1) Slutmobile 2) 512TR 3) F40 4) 308 The F40 is just too wild & ruff for everyday but a lot of fun in small doses
I would love to say it's my 308, but I think I prefer the 360. I haven't driven anything newer than that...
I've driven a bunch of Ferraris, but I have to say that my most pleasureable experience is everytime I drive my 308 GTS QV. -Wind in what is left of my hair -The glorious exhaust note bellowing out of the shiny Tubi -The pungent smell of very fine leather -Its allll mine and I love it like a child I think everyone has a spot in their heart for their personal Ferrari. Brilliant TR poem Carbon, very nicely done.
288GTO. I absolutely agree. Brian, when Steve F. was working for Hartzell in Sand City, he took me out and let me test drive a 288 he was servicing in the shop. What an incredible drive.
...behind the steering wheel, you're a passenger in that car! 1) NART Spider, Rockingham FCA event 2) my t Coupe. Great daily driver. -Peter
1 - Challenge Stradale!!!!! 2 - 512BB w/ carbs 3 - F40 I would like to drive a 288 GTO but ive only ridden in one
My experience is limited to the 3x8 cars and the 355, but the comments above about your own car being the most enjoyable are right on. In terms of having enough power to scare the **** out of me, the F355 is it, but the tucked-in-feeling cockpit, open targa top and interior eye candy in the 328 GTS ultimately make it my favorite to drive on public roads. The power is right; the steering wheel has no ugly airbag; it has the classic gated shifter; visibility is great for an exotic; the engine rumbles or howls right behind you; and you get the open-car experience with more privacy and less buffetting than in a full ragtop. If I had ever driven a 288 GTO or F40, those would probably top my list. Same formula (except closed), more extreme.
Twin turbo F-50 ranks as the most enjoyable Ferrari I've ever driven. A very close second is a 1000hp Turbo Testarossa. YIKES!!!!
about 5 years ago, I was guardian to a 275 gts...A friends car..I had it for a few months....nothing ever was more fun than getting this free reving v 12 to sing through its ansa exhaust, 1 st through second gear takeoffs would just blow my mind to hit red line....was nirvana...I still hear it now
Never really have driven anyone else's Ferrari... Other guy's Ferrari is like other's wife, look but don't touch. So, I only screw hard on my own Ferraris,... then, I must say...... TR all the way.
I have only ever driven 2 Ferraris. I LOVE driving my 348. I have the best time and always never want the drive to come to an end. Fantastic car to drive. The best fun you could ever have with your pants on. I was also lucky enough to get behind the wheel of Aussie Fchatter's Moretti's 308QV 2 weeks ago. I had the BEST time driving that 308. Was so easy and fun to drive. Although a little cramped for my large frame, I loved every minute of it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
