Actual selling prices for a car in good condition?
Cavallino magazine (Dec. 2006/Jan. 2007 edition) reports a range of US$ 95,000 to $160,000 for 365 Boxers.
I think a lot of those exclusive Ferrari publications are wishful thinking. The Jan/Feb 2007 CPI list Boxer values as follows: Fair/Good/Excellent; 365GT4/BB = $39k-$65k-$97.5k... BB512 = $37.8k-$63k-$94.5k... BB512i = $45.3k-$75.5k-$115k...
I will take ALL the 365BB's you can find for 39k, all the carb 512's for 37.5 ..you are dreaming if you think those car's are available today!! Those are 2 year old prices.
FYI, those prices are from the Jan/Feb 2007 CPI. And, as I posted those low values were for "Fair" cars which are defined by CPI as cars which are drivable but need restoration. And, I agree that all of those values seem low IMHO...however, I have seen a lot of Boxers go unsold at auction because bidding stopped at $50k or so and failed to meet the seller's reserve...while I love my BB512i, I still realize that they are a hard sale right now...
Well, if you want a real data point, I was recently offered $180,000 for my 365 BB (s/n 18745). This car has undergone a complete cosmetic restoration and is in excellent mechanical condition. I turned it down since it is not for sale. It is only one data point and my car is exceptional, but it is real.
Thats good news Steve, last year I was offered $142K cdn for my BBi, turned it down as well for the same reason. I plan to do a mechanical resto on it soon just to make it as near perfect as I can but its still a clean car the way it is, just not concours.
I saw that sheehan sold one for nearly 50k, but car to be restored. Are prices in US for BBi's higher then in Europe? Fuel emissions causes or? In Europe prices are highest for 365 boxer I beleive.
A 365BB is up for sale at the RM auction at Amelia Island in March. The owner claims it is a great car - that should be a good indication of the market.
I would like to see copies of the checks for all these Boxers out there selling for $150k, $175k, ect...so if you sold or bought one for those amounts, just white out the address and account number from the check and post here...not that I'm doubting anyone's word, but like Gerald Roush explains as to why the Ferrari Market Letter list 'Asking Price' rather than 'Selling Price' ...because other than anecdotals, you can't find anyone willing to provide documentation as to how much they bought or sold a Ferrari for...
It actually sold for $168k and it was an extremely highly modified car...Not worth including in any kind of market analysis, (Skewed Data)... Argento
Devils Advocate mr. Parker is........... Remember that movie with pacino, thats parker. In My Case I am quite Secure in stateing the selling Price was $150,000.00 The New owner is quite secure in stateing The Car is/was worth that figure. Just ask him, he is a member here...no bones in my closet. woodybyrd is his screen name. I believe we are in the winter doldrums. Spring will find a new surge in boxer prices, probably a few will sell north of those figures 4 sure.
Like I said, I do not doubt yours or anyone else's word, and as an owner of a BB512i in better than average shape, I sure hope Boxer values skyrocket...it will help me get over selling my 330GTC for $75k in the mid 90s! However, the published auction selling prices, various price guides, and FML asking price index all have the Boxer prices still below $100k. Certainly a "perfect car" would bring more, but those Boxers are few and far between. Why don't us FChatters break the trend and surprise Gerald Roush and start posting copies of the actual checks on this forum...maybe the moderators could start a new topic entitled...'Actual Selling Price Index' and require all post to include a copy of such checks, bank drafts, wire transfer orders, ect...they can easily be sanitized by the poster removing the account number and maker's address before posting...
BTW..since I sold my Boxer, I have been very Depressed, First I started having a few sips of wine at night to help me sleep, then it turned into a bottle per night, When I saw pictures of Queenie on my home movies DVD I turned to Whiskey In the Day time...and vodka shots at night..then to help me sleep I took Xanax with ambien chasers, and the next morning Budwieser to help me get the Day started...I do want to bore you with my problems but I thought I just had to tell you all.....That I have switched to Crack cocaine to help me deal with this loss...It really helps alot because now I dont rember the serial # of my car, used to be when I Dialed phone #s I dialed 512 494 7300 and wanted to speak with Red Boxer, but I always got a wrong #. To make a long story short , I shouldnt have sold it at all, Matter a fact The nurse just told me last night, if I stop sniffing the vile of Queenies old antifreeze, she will loosen up my straight jacket. I tell ya, keep your boxer at any cost so you dont end up like me!!!
I think we all need a big boxer group hug anyway, its been a while. I love my boxer, im so glad Im keeping it
Parkerfe, I don't understand your thinking in trying to diminish what is obviously an upward trend in Boxer prices, especially since you own one? It's like buying a stock and spreading rumors that the company is going to tank. Are you looking to corner the market in Boxers, so you are trying to artificially depress the prices??? My advice to anyone looking to buy, jump in now, they are NOT getting any cheaper!!! Remember 125,000 dollar daytonas and 90,000 dino's????
