Has anyone talked or seen Andreas? I haven't heard or seen him in over a month. Not sure if he's back in Europe or not. Just wondering if he was ok.

Hey homie, check out my location. :)

Rick, thanks for checking, I'm fine. Just buried under 100 boxes from my move. Don't have a phone/internet connection yet. Moving the Ferrari and Space collection was a massive undertaking: 2 trucks; 9,000 lbs and 9 men working all day.

    See y'all at go kart!

To the building we took the "aerial" shots of the cars a few years ago.

Yes it was serious. Spent months preparing for it and now will spend months getting installed as well. Some friends said with all my stuff I could never move and they were almost right. Had to sell my lathe. I probably was the only condo owner on Lake Shore Drive with a lathe and a brake. :)

And i passed Andreas carring the space shuttle installation facility walking down inner Lake Shore drive too... HAHAHA.... He didn't want the movers to damage it, so he was hand carrying it from his old place to his new place. I was walking to my Girl friends condo which is right on Sheridan and inner Lake Shore Dr.

    Small world.......

And amazingly you even recognized the structure at what it is. I don't think many folks could do that. Sadly.

In the elevator the other day a woman asked me whether I was a teacher when she saw the big Shuttle model I had in my hands. I said no. Then she asked why else would I have this model. That was even sadder.

Instead of celebrating the amazing achievements of our Space Program (and I use the word "our" here proudly albeit not fully deserving) we focus on the acts of one bad apple. Did anybody hear in the mainstream news about the successful space walk they did last week? Or the power repair job over the weekend? All you hear is Lenno yapping over diapers.

Yes, Andreas I would have to agree with you. I did hear a short blurb in the news about the space walk thou. Hey Billy Bob is coming out with his movie in a few weeks, maybe that will wake up a few people. Just think of the younger people who never really lived with that excitment a few decades back.

    Thanks, I love them already!

But comparing myself to folks of my age (or older) this place really looks weird: Doesn't look like an earnest adult lives here but rather a teenager with cash. Oh well...

Andreas is the new Dax. A real nice guy who's alter ego, Brock is far more entertaining than any other movie character in the space genre. He's one of the more open and friendly people and I hope the people of his new neighborhood can find out how sincere and somewhat cool he can be at times. Just don't make the roof of the new digs a home for D-12+ launches. Would make the kids happy, the adults a little confused.

    LOL

Brock actually exists, but is my buddy (not me). It was actually he who first compared me to Drax (I assume that's what you meant). A bit of a left handed compliment, but I'll take it anyway.

LOL! Right on, Bill! Actually, tomorrow will be the start of my 29th year of still trying to be 18.....( I turn 47....:)....:( )

Geez! Never thought that I'd have ever even made it to 40! ( Numerous Crashes, Hard Livin', etc....) And, had I, perhaps I wouldn't have partied so hard as a youth, and "saved a few brain cells for later".....:( Oh well....I guess it's called "being eccentric!"....;) Yeah.....Yeah.....That's the ticket!....:)

    Andreas,

Are you familiar with the Challenger Learning Center in Woodstock, Illinois?

My friend Steve is the director of the facility.

From their site: "Challenger Center is an international, not-for-profit education organization that was founded by the families of the astronauts from Challenger Space Shuttle mission 51-L."

Very nifty, no never heard of it. Thanks for the heads-up.

BTW: In May there will be the annual "Rockets for Schools" event again up in Sheboygan WI. Always a fun event for kids and parents interested in space, launching rockets and eating a WI brat. I'll be going again as every year.

    Andreas,

I am always impressed by space science, and facinated by the machinery, and knowledge required to be in that environment.

Last year, I sold a camera lens on ebay. The buyer happened to be an engineer working on the foam covering for the Shuttle fuel tank. He sent me an email detailing some of the problems his team was up against as they struggled to meet the deadline for the mission that was about to go up, and the required backup needed incase a rescue mission was called for. When one shuttle goes up, another has to be only days away from being ready for a rescue.

The Challenger Center has displays about the planets, the shuttle, has a U-Drive-Em Shuttle landing simulator with virtual real-time displays out the windows, a meteorite exhibit, lots of space memorabilia, etc. I went a few months ago for a lecture presented by Shuttle Astronaut Ken Reightler, Jr., who is now working on Mars mission preparations.

I am interested in learning about your space collection.

I drew this Shuttle artwork for a client (hence the © symbol embedded in it).

People on here know me as a Ferrari nut, but my obsession with manned space flight is at least equally involved if not more.

Happy to talk Shuttle etc with you next time we meet. I like your art work btw.
