I've never had the chance to drive a ferrari yet... so im wondering, what's the best part of driving a ferrari? yes this is a serious question... is it the speed? the looks when you slow down? ladies j/k. tell...
Good question! Ferraris designs are car art and just transcend age and time. The best thing at least with the F cars i have driven or owned is the handling and explosive acceleration combined with that unique Ferrari sound. You didn't ask but my biggest surprise of ownership is how reliable the cars have been for me. I have had worst Chevy's. Lee
Tip - fill out your profile and you can expect a decent response - good thought , but do not like to rsspond when I do not know who I am responding to.
Best part? Everything. The ability to go really fast and the way it feels when you're inside. It feels like you can conquer the world.
I guess the best part about driving a Ferrari is the unexplainable feeling that you get. "It's priceless"
Good question, but difficult to answer. The feeling is really difficult to describe and explain: priceless is probably the best definition.
For me it's a toss-up between hearing the sound and operating that classic oldschool shifter (I'd never get a paddle-shifter Ferrari)... There's nothing more satisfying than snicking that lever through the shifter gate, as it requires precision and authoritative force, but when I execute a perfect up shift (2nd to 3rd in the 5 spd. cars is lightning fast as it's dead in the middle of the gate), or match the revs perfectly on the downshift is pure bliss to me.
It goes like this. Cruise along at about 15-20mph, punch it to redline, shift again to redline, repeat as needed. That will explain what it is like to own/ride in a Ferrari. I did this yesterday in my 355. It was about 25 degrees, sunny, roads clear and I hadn't had it out in 2 months and needed my "fix". Snow on Wed. so it will have to wait another 2 mos. probably.
I giggle like a little school girl everytime I drive my 348. I LOVE it!! I wish everyone at least once in their lifetime could get a drive of a Ferrari. I try to help out my friends when I can.
1. It's the cure for a bad day. 2. You know when you come to a stop light, there won't be another one there. 3. the feel of being "ONE" with the car. 4. having an unremovable smile on your face from the time you turn the key until you park it.
The sound, the smell and the feel. A great car (Ferrari or otherwise) makes you feel a part of the process of drving. Shifting the gears, working the controls, smelling the gas & exhaust, etc it's all a part of motoring/driving. Most modern cars have lot this feel.
Tranquility. My Fcar flows. It flows when I look at it just standing still. And it flows when I'm driving it. The car just touches my senses in ways nothing else ever has. I just love this car~~!~
Absolutely. The sense of involvement in all the mechanicals, and the snarl of the engine behind you, is something only the Italians have figured out. But the single best part is... The looks. IMO, the 328 and F40 were the best looking production cars you could buy in, say, 1988. Then there was the 355, more comforts but still stops-you-dead-in-your-tracks beautiful and pure Ferrari. Car design has taken a dive since then - blame regulations, blame computers, blame Japan, blame whomever - making a 20-year-old Ferrari even more awe-inspiring now than it was. At any rate the whole CAD/CAM era has made it easy to forget just how riveting these cars were. I'm accustomed to seeing the car in the garage when I walk out in the morning, but when I walk back towards it in a parking lot, in a sea of sensible Lexuses, BMWs, Acuras and Corvettes, the Ferrari stands out -- to borrow a quote from Jeremy Clarkson -- "like a Harrier jet at the Battle of Agincourt." It's simply stunning.
Before I owned one, I rode along with a friend in his 81 GTSi. We had hooked up with 4 other Ferrari's and went off driving in western Wi. He let me drive through some very twisty road for about 40-50 miles, well over an hour. Hardly ever got very far up in third gear, just a lot of one, two, one, two, three, two, three, two, one, two....... The whine of the gears, the clang of the gear lever, the tautness of the chassis, (yeah I know GTSi's arent as ridgid as a B, but its still a very ridgid car) and that darn horsy on the wheel. The car didnt need 300 HP that day. It was just nice. Now myself, I HAD to have carbs. And I wouldnt trade it, the sound just has to be experienced. But when they are working good, probably ANY Ferrari would return the same joy I felt that day. You just need the proper road.
It is the total experience. A little anticipation when you first see the car, the sounds of the engine when you start it, the gear operation. It is a total package. For some it is the history, but for me it is living in the present. It makes you smile every time. BT
Nicely put. A friend lets me drive his stunning '79 GTS when ever I need to, and aside from the afore mentioned sounds, mechanical involment, and style, is the sense that closing the driver's door shuts out the mundane world and until it opens again there is no other existance ...there is only now, and now is fantastic.
Bingo. On all four. Also for me, I wanted and pined after one for so long that every time it get in, I have this little voice deep down that says "You did it!!"
