I'd prefer an Elise and if desperate for central seating position, buy a used Motorsport Elise (though I'm not sure if you could make it street legal)

If you want something that resembles an open wheel car for the street/track, get an Ariel Atom. wwww.arielatom.com. With the 300hp supercharged engine it can get to 60mph in sub 3 seconds.

That 11,500 only buys you the supercharger upgrade. Funny how they don't mention the price of the base package anywhere...

It's a neat idea, but a poor execution. The car is built soooo cheap. Just take a look at the shocks. They look like something out of a JC whitney catalog. Now there was a video of a streel legal Delarra (SP?) with an ls1 motor in it. THAT would be fun.

I went on a group drive with an Atom that was fully-specced except for the CF tub. It had the supercharged Chevy Cobalt motor and was LOUD and MEAN. It pulled on a modded GT2 on the freeway despite having a low top speed. The gentleman who owned it is really nice and owns a RUF Turbo, along with quite a few other high end European cars, and he said the Atom was easily his pick for most fun.

I would be very nervous driving an Atom around in America with all of the unattentive drivers in SUVs. All it takes is for one of them to not see you, and hit you, and its all over. For that same reason, I wont buy a street motorcycle, even though I really want one.

If I ever bought an Ariel Atom, it would be just to have some fun on the track. I would not drive it on the street. Too much at stake.......like your life. Not much protection in that and being that low, someone would be bound to run over you if they did not see you. Bugger that. :):) Im with you. ;)
