The removal of the lock seems to be custom for the 25th... (or the flip side, the lock served a purpose only on the open top x1/9 and not the countach).

Guys, Tony, check out these LP400 Periscopas restored by the factory. Same thing here too: Perforated inserts on the seats (wrong for 4-litre cars), leather dash (wrong for 4-litre cars), opaque parking-light lenses (for Annivesarios only).....you get the idea of the way the 'factory' restorations are done.
I think the consensus is that no restoration is better than one done (blatantly) incorrectly.

What someone is willing to pay...

I'm not sure that car will get $165,000.

I just got a call from the RM Auction in Ft Luaderdale.

    89' Countach red/ black nice car...$92,500.

I hope there is not a fast Countach Bubble burst.

I would rather see slow steady rise rather than a spike then a crash.

Hold on a minute.... nobody has paid yet so its only worth it if it gets SOLD at that price.

Now lets see: <<shouting>> "Honey is there enough space to get one more in the garage?"

That price sounds correct. Fuel-injected Countachs are the LEAST desireable Countachs to the marketplace (no insult if you own one, just speaking about values here), and the Annivesarios styling is the most controversial. A dealer freind just picked up an Annivesario (so-so condition, diven hard, put away wet, you know) for $75k. He called me same day and asked: "Do you want it to drive around in? $80k its yours...". I said: "Nah, been there done that..."

Having said all that, Im actually quite fond of the Annivesario's styling (well, on certain days. LOL), and I liked mine. I owned it for a number of years and it is the ONLY Countach that I never made ANY repairs on - just a fluids change. Super reliable if dialed in.

    Joe

BTW - Tony, there isnt going to be any bubble bursting. Countachs are still not that expensive compared to lots of Ferraris etc, and theyre super-desireable (I just had an e-mail from a DIE-HARD Ferraristi of renown who posts on F-Chat looking for one: "Dont tell my freinds..." LOL), they dont make 'em anymore, there are still lots who want one who dont have one, and lots who do have good cars arent planning to sell theirs. Ask yourself: Are YOU having an easy time finding a good car??

Joe is right about the 89'

The best fit and finish, a lot were put away with low miles and the most reliable.

I need these brakes on my every day car to slow me down so I don't buy the wrong Countach.

I'm running out of things to get to 1,000 LOL!!

I was going to get a Quattroporte, I even took one home...

    Then I drove a CLS 63 with the 030 pkg.... 0-60 4.3 sec...top speed limited @ 186MPH

    OMG!

The 'Factory Restorations' may be done by the factory but they are rarely correct. The only thing factory about the restoration is the Lambo receipt. For sure specialist restorers like Gary are miles ahead of the factory when it comes to properly restoring a car.
